Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Well that either shows one of two things: 1. The club rated Smith as the better prospect and that he would be a better fit to the first team at the time Novakovich went on loan for the 2nd season 2. Novakovich himself didn't want to fight for a spot (I would hope not) . It shows neither of those th...

Wouldn't rush Miazga back but think it would be good for Morrison and McIntyre to play together. Virginia Osho Morrison McIntyre Howe Olise Pele Rinomhota Obita Meite Baldock Subs: Walker, Holmes/Odimayo, Richards, East, Adam, Loader, Boye Haven't been following all the ins and outs so I've probably...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Andrija Novakovich is in talks with PEC Zwolle. He was in the crowd for their 2-2 draw with Sparta today As much as I feel sorry for him and hoped he would get the opportunity he's been patiently waiting for, I'm glad he's going to be playing a decent level somewhere else. The poor lad has not been...

Nameless I predict that this season McIntyre will get a full cap for Scotland.

That's unfairly pessimistic.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I can think of one example that really supports Ian's theory - Southampton. But after they got relegated they signed the likes of Rickie Lambert, Jason Puncheon and Jose Fonte to go with Surman, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Schneiderlin. In other words, they're about as representative of the &quo...

Agree with the consensus here, they're a team we want to play before they work things out. Still have lots of quality but the midfield has been disrupted. We're in good form and have every chance.

Am going to optimistically predict 2-0 Reading with goals from Puscas and Richards.

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Everytime I've been to the hawthorns they've been a class act. Plenty of friendly banter in the vine pre and post match and definitely without any sense of entitlement. Best club in the Midlands all day. Understatement imo, they're possibly the most likeable club (or at least fan base - the ridicul...

Looks like Jordan Holsgrove likely to head to Spain for a year. Training with Atlético Baleares until Saturday ahead of a potential loan move. Atlético Baleares play in Segunda Division B essentially the 3rd Division in Spain. That could be good development for him... bit lower than I'd hope for th...

Re: The Local Journo Thread

Every pen should be hitting the side netting as it goes in. No idea why footballers attempt anything else. Its a very very repeatable mechanical action, they should be perfect at it. In simple terms, the fact that no professional footballer has achieved this theoretical feat suggests that it's not ...

2 world wars, 1 world cup I never understood why we got rid of Morrison.

We were in a terrible financial situation and weren't in a position to reject the offer.

IIRC we had Pearce and Hector so didn't really need Morrison anyway.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (h) sponsored by Adam Federici

I really don't like the look of that team one bit. Very little creativity or width. Lots of redundant defensive players. None of the centre backs are capable of playing the "Evans role" and stepping into midfield if we need to change formation. What was wrong with the 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 vari...

The same club that we signed Michail Antonio from, so expect him to be as much use as Alan Bennett.

Don't think we should select anyone who we want to sell while the European transfer market is still open. We don't want Gunter getting injured and being stuck with him until January. Plus it would be better to give the game time to one of the young players. (I would, fwiw, be happy to keep Gunter ar...

Mariappa is probably the one who turned out the best. How much did we pay for Moore? Bikey was great but he'll be remembered for his temper. Lita, Seol and Ilori all had their moments. How much did we pay for Bacuna? Matt Mills didn't start very well but recovered and we made a profit from him. JDB ...

Re: Rumour - Danny Loader to Wolves

Loader's a reasonable player atm but nothing more, doesn't offer a consistent threat. He's too good for the U23s now but isn't good enough to justify first team selection. Olise doesn't have his scoring record but looks much more at home on the pitch. Said in the previous thread that we should be lo...

SWLR Re passing.
The Coach's mantra is "it is not the player with the ball that is in control of the pass, but the team mates".
Make sure your comments are directed in the right direction.

That was what I always used to say but I never did get that England call-up.
