Re: World Cup 2018

Lawrenson thinks Portugal shouldn't have had a penalty because Ronaldo wasn't in control of the ball when he got clattered. Why do the BBC employ him?

(I don't think it was a penalty either, but that's because Ronaldo was - as usual - already on his way down when the Iranian hit him).

Re: World Cup 2026

Oddly the Germany v Austria "fix" happened in a four team group. The second round, the one with only three teams per group, didn't have any controversy - and also featured one of the best world cup games, where Italy beat a great Brazil team 3-2, when a draw would have seen Brazil go thro...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Financial matters - Birmingham's holding company Trillion Trophy Asia are the club's new main sponsor, which means their ground is to be named The St Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium, which is nearly as catchy as the newly named Trillion Trophy Training Centre. :) Reminds me that I need to watch 'T...

What I learned from today is that the England band is still really annoying, ITV commentators are still really shit, and I picked the wrong half to watch.

Doyle and Hunt Interview

Not quite the current team, but Stephen Hunt and Kevin Doyle had a long chat in front of an Irish Independent journalist back in January. Subjects included the 106 season, the first Premier league season, playing for Ireland, eating out every night in Reading town centre, their time at Wolves, Hunt ...

Snowflake Royal
MoorgateRoyal I'm so confused.

You're seeing the top of the pitch side hoarding as the sideline.

That's so disappointing. Would have been hilarious if he had taken it from the wrong place.

Don Goodman But I think any team that gets 100 points in this league is a special team and you look at those teams, they were all special teams that got to 100 points.

Ah. Never mind, Don, you can always try again in 2019-20.

John Smith How on earth do sides like Kiribati fund the travel?

It turns out they don't manage to do it, and they've been replaced by Tuvalu.

Shame that Felvidék didn't get drawn against Székely Land.

John Smith If they lose, does Micciche go?

Reading his Wikipedia article makes me throw up in my mouth a bit. It is so obvious he wrote it

That entire second paragraph was constructed in a series of about 20 edits by a single (IP) user on 4th and 5th March.

Thoughts are with Deadlock and his cattery btw. Deadlock has the feeling he's missed something and is about to be whooshed Slutskys’ playing career was cut short due to an injury sustained rescuing a cat stuck in a tree. You are the “covered in cats” man - no? Just a tenuous reference to yourself t...

Nile Ranger jailed for fraud, 8 months http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-40021308 Surely that's his final chance. And for just £2k, must be earning close to that a week now. He'd had a decent season as well. he was being paid minimum wage when at Blackpool so wouldn't be sure he is on big...
