I'd almost forgotten..........

by jumpers for goalposts » 22 Jan 2007 15:53

this classic match 2 years ago today!

http://www.royals.org/matdoc/220105.html

From what I can remember a promising display against a 'big club' like Ipswich. I definately remember sitting somewhere in the east stand, and about 2-3 minutes before full time the usual stream of people were exiting the ground happy with a point. Cue the inevitable Ipswich goal, and the stream of people became a flood.

But then before many had fully made their way out the stadium, BANG! Ivar smashes home and the game is salvaged. The game had everything that a great game should; frustration, anger then jubilation! How fortunes have changed for both clubs since that day.

Btw, this is not a thread slating those who leave early, I just wanted to get others' memories of the game!

I was on a skiing holiday in France and watched soccer saturday or whatever its called on Sky. A bit annoyed that missing one of the biggest games of the season but happy to be skiing. Nursing a pint or two. I couldn't hear what was being said as the pub was playing loud music, so just concerntrated on the screen. The game was nearly over and I went for a comfort break. I returned to find Ipswich had scored- gutted. A moment later and its 1-1. Happy again and happy with the point.

possibly my favourite game at the mad stad. Even ahead of boro and the obvious ones last season. Still remember the narator on 'the championship' saying"I was about to say this is one of the ebst nil-nil draws i've ever seen... but now I have to say it's one of the best 1-1 draw i've ever seen"

a quality match.

after the game some guy was arguing with the bookie in the north stand that ingamarsson wasfirst goalscorer

didn't seem to understand that first goalscorer was not first goalscorer for reading

after a few minutes arguing and the bookie rightly refusing to pay out he turns to the Q looking for support

he didn't get a lot

I would love to celebrate that goal again. Was quality, a minute after they scored in the 90th minute, I was sitting there thinking how have we lost this we played so well. Then BANG! 1-1.

I took an Ipswich supporting mate to the madstad for the first time. We were sitting in the East Stand. When they scored, he jumped up in celebration. I was guted until a few second later when we equalised and my mate was 'mobbed'. what a game!
