European Run In

by Barry the bird boggler » 23 Apr 2007 11:58

So this is the run in for the teams competing for UEFA Cup places

Everton

28th April - Man U (H)
5th May - Portsmouth (H)
13th May - Chelsea (A)

Bolton

28th April - Chelsea (A)
5th May - West Ham (A)
13th May - Aston Villa (H)

Reading

30th April - Newcastle (H)
5th May - Watford (H)
13th May - Blackburn (A)

Spurs

28th April - Middlesbrough (A)
7th May - Charlton (A)
10th May - Blackburn (H)
13th May - Man C (H)

Portsmouth

30th April - Liverpool (H)
5th May - Everton (A)
13th May - Arsenal (H)

5 teams going for three spots (I've not included Blackburn as they're already 6 points behind the others so while not impossible I think its unlikely. However for the completists they have Charlton (H), Newcastle (A), Spurs (A) and Reading (H) still to play).

Have to say that Everton, Portsmouth and perhaps Bolton have the worst of the run ins while I think we can't take anything for granted.

A bit more will be revealed this coming weekend with a win for us over a very good Newcastle capable of giving us a commanding position for the run in with it even goin down to goal difference (and on that front only Everton are clear winners followed by orselves and Portsmouth).

I don't want to tempt fate on this so will leave that to you lot - its sure going to be interesting.

By the way the LOWEST we can now mathematically finish is FOURTEENTH but realistically, given the point margins, you're looking at NINTH!

I cannopt believe I am saying this - but it is difficult to see from that list how we wont get into Europe - we have the easiest run in. 6 points from the 2 home games will pretty much guarantee it........
