Confidence is the key

Confidence is so important to every player who plays the game.

If we perform well and beat Wigan, we'll remind ourselves how good we can be, and we could then go on to beat Pompey and Derby.

These players are not useless, but low on confidence.

Let's face it, over the past two years we've forgotten what it's like to be in a bad run, but we'll be ok, and that is the head as well as the heart's opinion.

Correct.

Much of the unbeaten run in 05/06 was sustained by the manta that "winning becomes a habit." Now we have to get ourselves into the right state of mind so that the opposite doesn't apply.

Confidence does play a huge part and one win against Wigan, however scrappy, will make a huge difference.
I was not a great lover of Sidwell but he did have a lot of confidence and self belief and that is missing from the team at the moment...someone who can really rally the troops when things are going against you.
I do think Sonko's return will help in this respect. He is worshipped by the fans and highly regarded by his team-mates. His presence on the pitch in itself will help.

Yeah, the past two years has been astonishing really.
106 points, Champions, finishing 8th in the Prem.
Truly incredible.

The problem with confidence, or lack of confidence is that you don't know when it will start or when it will end.

The situation is that we're in one of the toughest leagues in the World, and we need to start winning again.

It seems as though some people are scratching their heads, wondering why 'things aren't going our way anymore'.

It's a challenge now, because this League will kill you if they even sense that a team is low...

Whatever league you are in, it never lies and make no mistake Wigan and yes, Derby will be looking for a result at our ground over the next few weeks.

Early days yes, but it's never too early to get on the winning trail again.

i find it hard to see how we cant have gone into the season with confidence having done so well last season and in our pre - season games...AND our result art Old Trafford on the opening day.

Fair enough we have lost 3 in a row now, against teams we would have beaten last season quite easily, but i dont think conifdence has anything to do with it...

I think we are missing Sidwell.

I said it earlier.

A few of our players, other than Shorey, may have had bids made for them in the dying stages of the transfer window. Certainly Lita was the target of a bid, according to SSN.

I just wonder if there were any others.

I dunno!

But it was definitely reported on SSN on the evening of the transfer window closing that bids had been made for Lita.

OK, they may have been wrong, but them reporting a bid is a pretty strong statement.
(I've editted the first statement to make it clearer)

It was definitely posted but no club mentioned. Probably someone like Sunderland or Pompey making a speculative bid just to see if we would bite.

I don't think there are any easy wins in the Prem. The margin for error is razor thin. We are just not getting any breaks recently. But we are creating chances and we will finish.

This stretch is really good for fans like me, who have only known the good times. You don't appreciate the good times as much until you go through a few rough patches.
