Back From The Game - Derby

by susieroyal » 21 Apr 2009 22:34

Very pleasing performance overall. From reading stuff on here recently I was expecting it to be appalling, which it was far from.

Yes, there were still some very silly mistakes. Kebe jogged back too often for my liking (not suprising), Kitson tried a fancy flick a few too many times when a simple lay off would suffice. BUT, I thought it was a very pleasing performance, with some really decent moves put together.

No idea about the offsides for the three 'goals' in the first 7 minutes as they were up the other end (2nd one was only one that could tell was offside from behind the goal.

Reading support - there is one bloke that if posts on here will say it was shite. Baseball cap on, sunglasses on top of head, home shirt - kept trying to start chants and then making daft comments about how shit Reading's support is. Yes, granted there weren't many there, but what the hell do you expect. Also trying to start shit chants about Brian Clough just as we are about to defend a corner is just plain daft. Considering the numbers and how spread out all the Reading fans were, I thought we made a half decent noise. I've certainly been to games where we have been a lot quieter.

Anyway, back to the game - USA - didnt have a great deal to do, distribution pretty ok really.

MOM - Bikey - fookin legend - I thought he played immense - rarely looked like he needed to break sweat, very composed.

Also impressed by Long, particularly in the 1st half, plus good finish for the goal. Nice to see Little showing a glimpse of his best when setting the goal up.

Kitson - drops too deep for me - would rather see him in the penalty area, not on the edge. Did all the kissing the badge stuff when he scored.

Judging from the table, I'd say one of the top four 8)

How many times have we heard that this season, reality is, we cant be that good as the table doesnt lie.

Having said that, its a great result this evening, hopefully we kick on now and take some confidence and form into the remaining two league fixtres, and playoffs.

Shame to read Kitson was dropping deep again tonight just as he did against Barnsley as that leaves Long (or Noel as it was on saturday) exposed uptop against four defenders, leaving limited or often no options for the midfielders.

How did Dan Harding do tonight? Now we have won, can you see Coppell keeping faith in Harding, or will Armstrong come back into the starting eleven at Norwich do you think?

Even if Armstrong did return for Norwich, at least it would be one of our better (if not best) performers this season returning to the starting XI - unlike when SSC has dropped Karacan in the past.

Not been to enough games this season to do a fair comparison to Armstrong, but I thought Harding had a good game and would not be suprised at all to see him keep his place.

Yep, quite looking forward to being in school tomorrow - gonna give the kids some stick!!! I know Derby have struggled this year, but didnt expect them to be that bad. Lost count of the amount of times they gave the ball away or just passed it straight out of play

Back from the game...

Really pleasing peformance. Played some good football.

my player ratings

Hahnemann- 8
Rosenior- 7
Harding- 7
Dubberry- 7
Bikey- 8
Little- 9
Kebe- 7
Tabb- 9
Karacan- 7
Kitson- 7
Long- 7

Harding was really solid, never got beat by a winger. Kebe was awful most the game, but popped up with a wonderfull assist. Hats of for Jay Tabb, who was the best player on the pitch. Tabb and Karacan look good together. Oh and Bikey was phenominal
