Yes. I genuinely thought we'd win today and have a crack at automatic promotion.
However, after that performance I'm scared. I still think we can do it, but not as convincingly as I thought we would.

glass half full
Kitsondinho Just think, within the 5/6 years time we WILL be the next Norwich/Charlton/Southampton/Bradford/Swindon/Leeds.............

Solid financial base, steadily developing Youth academy, Reserve team champions.......

Doubt it.

Just like the one Charlton had before Dowie spent it all........clubs who come down and do not get back up in the first few seasons have a habit of drifting into League 1.......if we don't go up and SSC leaves, we need to be really careful with who we appoint and how much they are given to spend......and most people seem to think we won't be going up.....Today has been been a very significant day for RFC.....all feeling depressed now?

No, because we have a chairman that is careful with his money.

Idiot.

You could replace 'careful' with 'tight'.
Saying that, though, we have picked up a fair few bargains because of that.

Want to think about something really depressing? How much money has Liam ROsenior made in his career pretending to be a proffesional footballer?

There were a lot of things wrong with today, the fcukin clappers, the lack of bollox, Hunt's set plays. But watching that clown over the last two seasons, play pass after pass out of play or to no one really has summed up the last two years of watching Reading for me.

To think the guy rates himself so highly, thought he should be in the England team when we signed him.

You know someone's shit when the get swapped for Seol and the other club got the better end of the deal.

WHen we got a free kick in a great posistion 2nd half and I saw Hunt and Rosenior stood over it I knew what was coming, Hunt hit it in to the wall Rosenior kicked the rebound to no one.

Fcuk off. I hate football....

Id rather be tight/shrewd or whatever than in administration and worried the club could go to the wall

'greed. Madejski's shrewdness is a valuable quality at times. Although it would be nice if he dipped into his pockets a little more.

Rosenior's passes out of play and hoofs, Bikey's pass straight out of play (20 yards into the crowd) when he could have easily rolled it to someone, Kebe's two shanks out when it would have been easier to get a good cross in, the amount of times Shunt was in a good position and put a bad cross in, Marcus' hoofs, ditto for Doobs.

For all these reasons today's performance irritated me immensely.

I feel so sorry we have to eliminate Burnley to get to the final (which I think we will do). Now they have people who play football, and are not primadonnas.

Bikey annoys the p*ss out me. So much talent - so little arsedness...

nothing to be depressed about. no one could see us being in the position we were in today for a few months now and really was a 'brucey bonus' which he havent taken. que sera and all that. the only disappointing thing is again like so many times this season it was in our own hands and we blew it. at least we aint taffs :)

Ditto - bottom line is that (as a result of that shrewdness) the club is being run well, we're financially sound, and have just had our 6th most successful season ever (least that's what it said in today's programme!). We've got a stadium we could only have dreamt of a couple of decades ago, with crowds to match, and still have a good chance of getting back into the premiership for the second time ever.

Depressing result today, but people need a bit of perspective, I think.

I have been depressed since last season's January transfer window.
A lot of people on here knew that we would struggle to stay up with that squad but the arrogance/tightness or whatever led to our demise when we broadly went with what we already had.
The same in this transfer window-there were clear signs of inadequacy when Saints gave us a footballing lesson at our place a month or so before the window even opened.
The eventual bringing back of Little and Kitson was very much too little, too late.

I am not so depressed about the outcome this season because I don't think we have anywhere near the makings of a Premiership side but I do feel that we just tossed away so easily what had taken over 120 years to achieve-membership of the top division.

If we had never got there I would probably still be counting my blessings that we look to be a club comfortable in the second tier both on and off the pitch but the throwing away of membership of the top division was frankly amateurish and avoidable if the club had not been quite so cocky about survival and if our left-winger had continued to play for the club (which he didn't after Christmas) rather than just turn up.

Brutal critisism but players now need to be named , USA , Rosenior , Doobs , SHunt , Doyle, Kitson ( bit unfair as on loan ) , Long ( don't give me two great headers at Norwich ) Kebe ( same crosses at Norwich ) all simply not good enough plus a few others . Yet another momentous choke .

Depressed?

Whatever for?

I have just loved, LOVED!!!! watching the 2009 version of Steve Coppell's team.

Only the amputation of both legs prevented me from attending today and I'm planning a sponsored crawl up the M6 to ensure I make it to Burnley.

What the hell happened in 2005/06? That wasn't Reading. The real Reading choke every time. Always have done and always will do. I'm going to go to fewer matches in future and wean myself off this club that is wasting my life.

Very depressed, in fact I don't think depressed covers it
More like a feeling that I have been kicked in the balls and that familiar sickening feeling won't go away
I genuinely felt it was going to happen for us today and after the recent form couldn't see anything but a win against Brum. I was prepared for the result from Palace to go against us but wasn't prepared for Marcus' blunder, a lack of composure and the sheer panic that seemed to set in. The result from Palace just makes it all so much worse and the "what might have been" (and my 25 - 1 bet) so much closer.
I currently can muster no positive feelings about our chances in the play offs, so yes I am signing in as officially depressed
