You can put the ball beyond his reach.

Maguire, let me tell you why I've had it watching Kebe. For their goal all he had to do was put just the smallest amount of pressure on the guy putting in the cross. But instead he stands back three yards. Just a small amount of effort there would probably have prevented the ball going into the centre of our defence, where of course we are an utter nightmare.

I don't hate him but just cannot see how this man is anywhere near a championship side.

andrew1957 I will not be sorry if some others like Marek leave the club in January.

Marek's just about the only thing I look forward to on match days at the moment. Granted he had a poor game by his standards but still had more vision and cutting edge than nearly all the rest of the team put together.

Sell Marek and I really believe we will be relegated.

Blame Ingimarsson for the goal - he's the one who missed the ball and lost his man in the process. Kebe (a lightweight flying winger) came on as an impact substitute, and he did that job well IMHO. Got to goalline a few times, delivered good ball, generally made things happen.

Slating him as being utterly dreadful and so on just because he might have been a bit tighter on his man at one point is just ridiculous nitpicking IMHO and due to the fact that people have already written him off.

Marek is so frustrating. He is supposedly this world-class midfielder, but he so rarely plays like it. He hits a great 30 yard pass one minute and then struggles to find a team-mate with a 5 yarder moments later. In addition the man cannot tackle. He was poor against Scunthorpe, but the worst performance I have seen was at Coventry, where he was diabolical.

..apart, on Saturday, for the defence-splitting pass that got us in behind for our goal, of course. But that's him all over. Rest of the time, meh.

Maguire,

You're right, ivar was at fault too (like I said, we are a nightmare in the middle of defence) but all Kebe had to do was close his man down a bit. For me it was the final straw. He is okay as a 'luxury' player in a successful side (like the start of last year) when you probably can afford a few miscontrols and stick the ball into the north stand a few times. But when you need to grind out results and your back's against the wall, he really isn't what you want. He's not entirely to blame for our demise, but I'm afraid he's just symptomatic of our ever-slipping standards.

Blue Biscuit Marek is so frustrating.

Marek is a wasting our time and his quite frankly.

He clearly has plenty of ability which is totally wasted in our team and in this league. He wants forever on the ball and he aint gonna get it.

He's always been too casual when I've seen him. Brilliant that he can play these excellent defence splitting passes that result in the possibility of someone else creating a goal. Not so great that he dwells on it or passes it straight at the opposition in the middle of the park so often.

I don't think we'd miss him too much. Certainly nothing like as much as we'd miss The Sig, Rasiak or McAnuff.

Marek needs to play in a top 6 Prem team, he'd do wonders with his passing then, the other players would actually read his game.

These are all fair points. I agree to the extent that Kebe is too often a passenger when playing from the start, but I think he's a good option against a tired side for the last 20 mins or so of a match. He did this job well on Saturday, but in the greater scheme of things I agree that he's not one you want in your starting 11 when things aren't going your way.

Brendan: We threw it away

Brendan Rodgers was desperately disappointed after seeing his side 'throw away' two of the three points against Scunthorpe.

Rasiak opened the scoring on 16 minutes and we looked odds-on for all three points, but a strike from Hooper turned the game on its head.

Brendan said afterwards, "I'm very disappointed. For the first hour we did well, our organisation was good, we were a threat and we looked good going forward. We were good value for the lead and I thought we would get stronger.

"But once we went in front we started playing poorly. We're disappointed with the goal we conceded and our game management then was poor. Late on it was a war.

"I said to the players we need to see the game out better. For an hour we were the better side, without being at our best. Once we scored we should be able to pick them off.".

Marek will be off in janury. Walking out the ground on saturday, head down, walking in the rain by himself he looked a lonely character. Feel sorry for him as he is wasted in a team full of crap players, needs to be around players who make proper runs and get themselves into space. The ball he did in the first half where he put one across the box to no one stands out, in the prem you'd have a right winger, striker of miffielder breaking in from that angle. As usual with reading though, just a bunch of tumbleweed.

You may well be right, but if, as some of us believe, the club have already tried unsuccessfully to move him on, he'll have to put in some decent performances to attract a buyer.

Fair comment, but that's quite difficult when a number of the players around him are pretty ineffective.

Cummings didn't play horrendously - why is everyone slagging him off?
Scape Goat... again.
Rosenior's gone, Harper's gone, Oster's gone, Seol's gone...
Cummings' turn.

When I tweeted him about Cummings:
Much more confidence on the ball, still shaky at the back, as are the rest of them!
