Hoop Blah
Ian Royal ...and I get so fed up of reading poorly thought out posts from people who aren't interested in finding out what they are talking about I sometimes give up on giving people a chance before I lay into them.

Stop posting so many of them then!

Looks like Hammond's out of contract in the summer but he wants to stay... maybe... and SJM wants him to stay .. maybe... if he takes a pay cut??
And note that he does argue the football needs to SJM so he's no poodle.

I reckon the Brendan Rodgers appointment and/or decision to dispense with his services must have had an effect on the reationship between Hammond and SJM. As Hammond is/was the Kingmaker the Chairman must hold him responsible for the situation the Club found itself in when Rodgers was perceived to have been the wrong man for the job and from what we have been told it doesn't appear Hammond was particularly involved in the decision to sack Rodgers so both of them must have a little less respect for the other.

Hammond's position was surely undermined also by not being given the job of recruiting a new Manager and although I am not saying he wouldn't have supported the appointment of McDermott, there has been little suggestion that he was too involved in that decision either.

I believe him when he says he gives the football position to the Chairman - after all that is the job SJM appointed him to do. Ultimately though as with most of us Hammond has to follow the instructions of his boss which is why I think he is sometimes unfairly criticised.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him move on to a new challenge though.

Who would miss him if he left? Doubt if any of the supporters would. Can't speak of the senior management at the club. Frankly my dear...

No reason why the supporters would miss him becasue his job is a behind the scenes one. I bet none of us 'miss' Jon Fearn, or 'missed' Brendan Rodgers when he went to Chelsea.

What we might miss is the results of the work they do, but seeing as most people can't grasp what Hammond does then inevitably they wouldn't miss him....
