Team for Donny Away

by andrew1957 » 02 Feb 2012 09:46

Don't see a lot of changes Griffin likely to continue at the back as we have had 4 clean sheets in a row with him at LB. Hunt to continue up front as he did well last week and it would be harsh to drop him. Assume Kebe will be back but if not Antonio has done enough to justify his place. Karacan and Tabb are a bit too light weight to control midfield and did get a bit overrun last week until Bristol went down to 10 - but not really sure what the alternative is until Leigertwood regains fitness – unless we bring back Howard for Tabb.

Fed
Griffin
Pearce
Gorkks
Cummings
McAnuff
Karacan
Tabb
Kebe or Antonio
Roberts
Hunt

Bench
Andersen
Gunnar - gives cover in several positions
Cywka - thought he did well last week
Antonio or HRK or Church
ALF

Depends if Connolly is fit. If he is (and how good a left back is he?) will he play instead of Griff?

Griff is nearing the end of his career, Connolly could have a long one with us

Hunt to continue up front as he did well last week and it would be harsh to drop him.

Barring injuries suspect Roberts-Hunt is the preferred pairing

Assume Kebe will be back but if not Antonio has done enough to justify his place.

Yup, the Kebster is first-choice but I wouldn't bring in HRK while Ants is improving.
But there's Cywka. He should at least make the bench, and maybe he impressed in training...

They were playing 2 v 3 and we won.

Howard, that's a joke, right? He's far more lightweight defensively than either of them

Fed
Griffin (or Connolly)
Pearce
Gorkks
Cummings
McAnuff
Karacan
Tabb
Kebe or Antonio
Roberts
Hunt

Bench

Andersen
Connolly if he doesn't start
Cywka - thought he did well last week
Antonio or HRK or Church
ALF (would rather he was back-up striker than Churchy ATM)

Your the stats man Snowball.

Ian Harte. 8 League starts since recalled. 7 goals scored from a Harte Set piece, yeilding 15 points. Still make him 3rd choice LB, considering the total lack of creativity elsewhere?

This is likely to be a very tight game settled by the odd goal so I would leave Harte out. Provided we keep a clean sheet, I have faith that one of our forward players will do enough to get a goal hence Griffin over Harte and an extra front 4 player on the bench.

though our results, and goals scored was ok when mills played too though as his pace and willingness to get foprward helped the creativity

griffin has also shown hes no mug at all there, and his experience helps

defensively harte is very slow and easily targetted, but helps us score goals

its not just as simple as you make out, they all bring something

Harte was dropped against Bristol City last season too (Armstorng played instead), presumably because McDermott thought his lack of pace would be exploited by Adomah, but came back into the side for the next game. So I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the team against Donny.

I'd go for

Federici
Cummings
Gorkss
Pearce
Harte
Kebe
Tabb
McAnuff
Karacan
Roberts
Hunt

Subs

Anderssen
Cywka
Antonio
Le Fondre
Church

Also, what's the weather forecast up there like, I presume the game will go ahead or will it get too icy for the local surroundings/pitch to be able to cope?

Our goals scored and results when Mills played was OK? No, it wasn't. He wont play for us again baring injuries.

Of course its not that simple, but in a team totally lacking in creativity, dropping a player who's set pieces win you a lot more games than you lose if criminal. Every game he creates gilt edged chances. Thrown in with some crap as well I admit, but he wins matches.

Not to mention how utterly dull we are to watch this season. Hes just about the only player with geniune talent worth watching.

No real issues with the forecast, maybe a couple of snow flurries but very very cold on Saturday.

I thought that I had already read somewhere that McD would be sticking with Hunt and Roberts up front for Saturday.

EXCELLENT example (if your figures are correct) and I am sure you're right. No joke.

My heart says, "Ooooh, Prem LB, age 24. Yippee" and remembers all the stick Harte has received
while ignoring WHAT THE RESULTS ARE when he plays.

But if he has really made all those goals (and not been responsible for many of those conceded - didn't see Cardiff)
then you make your point

Stats 1-0 Bullshit Subjectivity

leicsRoyal I thought that I had already read somewhere that McD would be sticking with Hunt and Roberts up front for Saturday.

No point chopping and changing. He's picked his partnership and needs to stick with it for 3-5 games to give it a chance. I don't agree with picking Hunt in the first place, but he has to play the next few games with Roberts now.
