Said it before and I'll say it again, as soon as the damn stupid transfer windows are scrapped altogether the better for everyone.

WoodleyRoyal anyone else slightly concerned that we amassing a ageing squad?

ages of players next season - as we dont know how mullins will fit it not sure if we can class him as first team but we could have 8 out what i would consider first team players fast approaching 30 or over

No  That's not exactly a lot, is it?

Of those two are in their 20's and one probably wont be here next season (Harte), neither will be the neglected Gunnarsson.

If we win matches, then who cares? Presumably if we go up we'll sign some 20-something players and of course there are a few that look promising in the academy.

I'm not against transfer windows per se. On balance I'd prefer to revert back to the old system where teams could buy players up to the end of March each year (loan or permanent). If a transfer window has to be enforced then it should only open when one season ends and close before the next season starts. The current system is a halfway house and doesn't achieve what it set out to do (i.e. stopping cash rich teams buying success during the season).

The current loan system is an absolute shambles too.

P.S. Mullins is gd signing as he is versatile and provides cover for positions where we are a bit short. For once we get to benefit from the arbitrary emergency loan system. I've also met Mullins on a night out in Reading and thought he & his mates were complete Oxf*rds.

Just as an aside, has anyone ever met a group of lads on a night out that haven't come across as complete c*nts?

Saw Shane Long on a night out once and he was brilliant. Matt Mills was predictably a oxf*rd

Good signing imo. Experienced professional who can help us get across the finish line.

We've had a bunch of matches in the past couple weeks and a pretty heavy schedule of fixtures looming. This'll allow Brian to give some of the lads a little rest withut us not losing a thing on the pitch...plus he can play defense.

Welcome (home) to Reading Hayden... 8)

Text from club.

Fantastic news. Thanks Anton and TSi. Thank you also Mr Chairman for finally getting to the point where you are sharing the pleasure and burden of RFC.

Cobi
URZZ So Connolly looking crocked, Cummings 'under performing'... We're gonnae' see Mullins at RB I think.

I don't think so, not unless Cummings get nobbled. Cummings was good on Tuesday. It takes games to get back up to speed.

Exactly. When I saw him play against Leicester I commented that it was a great shame he had lost his place when he had just started playing really well as it was clearly taking him a little bit of time to get back into it again. Cummings is a quality player.

In his interview Hayden Mullins says that Reading's is the first result he looks for. At least he didn't have to do that on New Years Day 2007 as he was playing for West Ham. Bet he loved the score.

Chris Powell on his stag doo in Bournemouth with Chris Kiwomya, Ricky Otto and a couple of others. Top blokes - had a laugh with them. Otto was a little on the quiet side though!
