Questions from Newcastle Fans

by BrockManson » 28 Sep 2012 08:54

Right all, get ready to tell me to fornicate away but I also post on a NUFC board. There's a guy on there called 'The Fish' who (albeit pompously) asks away fans for their perceptions before a game. Since you need admin approval to join this place and he didn't join in time, I've taken his questions and am posting them here. If you have 5 mins on your lunch break or are just plain bored, here they are:

Which Reading player do you predict will have a big season?

Which Reading player do you predict will have a disappointing season?

What's a realistic aim for Reading this season? Where have you strengthened to achieve this?

Who will win the Premier League this year and why?

How do you see the top 6 panning out?

Which teams will be relegated and why?

Who will be your danger man/men against Newcastle?

Which Newcastle players are you worried about?

Finally, what do you reckon the score will be?

A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it?

A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction?

The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium?

What would your reply be to the pillock who said this "I hope we stuff them. Reading fans are the biggest c*nts in football. To a man. No exceptions.;)"?

Thanks very much. :) Will be posted here. They're making me fill this out too.

A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it? - We've moved on.

A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction? - We all love Lawro, due to the kit bag incident with Friday

The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium? In the same way my Dad feels about the 2-up, 2-down he lived in Rochdale with an outisde loo. Great memories, but good ridance

If we go down, can we give it all the biggun' asking patronising questions like "which one of your players, none of which we have ever heard of because we weren't in the same league last year, lols, should we be wary of?" to Barnsley et al.

Have to Lol at the "Which Newcastle players are you worried about?" question. What sort of groundbreaking answer are they expecting here?

BrockManson Which Reading player do you predict will have a big season? McAnuff

Which Reading player do you predict will have a disappointing season? Bignall

What's a realistic aim for Reading this season? Where have you strengthened to achieve this? 18th

Who will win the Premier League this year and why? Dunno, who gives a shit.

How do you see the top 6 panning out? Same as ever I imagine.

Which teams will be relegated and why? The shittest teams, cos they're wank

Who will be your danger man/men against Newcastle? Shorey

Which Newcastle players are you worried about? Your big black strikers

Finally, what do you reckon the score will be? 0-2

A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it? It's because of his embarassing spray tan when Palace sang glad all over on Jameson Tonight.

A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction? Prediction shared.

The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium? Probably over it by now tbh

What would your reply be to the pillock who said this "I hope we stuff them. Reading fans are the biggest c*nts in football. To a man. No exceptions.;)"? :|

Which Reading player do you predict will have a big season? jimmy kebe

Which Reading player do you predict will have a disappointing season? simon church

What's a realistic aim for Reading this season? avoid relegation
Where have you strengthened to achieve this? up front, wing, CM, and LB

Who will win the Premier League this year and why? chelsea-dunno its just a guess

How do you see the top 6 panning out? much like last year, but in a different order

Which teams will be relegated and why?QPR norwich and saints

Who will be your danger man/men against Newcastle? jimmy kebe

Which Newcastle players are you worried about? all of em

Finally, what do you reckon the score will be? 1million nil to RFC

A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it?he left us when we were on the verge of the playoffs to go to a team who were below us, after promising he was going nowhere etc. hes ok though, built half the side that won the championship in 05/06 with 106 points

A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction?certainly looks possible after our start-but McDermott works miracles every year, and he'll do it again

The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium?had to be done for the good of the club-and has probably been thr main driver behind our success over the last ten years- but i still miss the old shed and the atmoshpere there

What would your reply be to the pillock who said this "I hope we stuff them. Reading fans are the biggest c*nts in football. To a man. No exceptions.;)"? i would stab him in the head with a sharpened rumblestick.

Ha ha no worries, it's all good craic! Don't think I'll be posting up another one of these for the away game though. ;)

Funnily enough the newcastle forum above received one of these surveys from a Bordeaux fan ahead of the upcoming EL game. It's obviously becoming an international football messageboard custom.

1. Hmm......not sure, we have had some goalkeeping issues already. If McCarthy plays well and establishes himself could be a big season for him.

2. Federici looks like the pick here (see above).

3. Staying up. Tried to add some extra Prem experience but who knows.

4. Man Utd. Disappointing last time. Added some extra quality in attack. Whiskynose is the grandmaster of this league.

5. Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Everton and then Toon/Spurs depending on which gaffer gets the most from his squad.

6. Norwich, QPR, Swansea. Trying to pick teams that are not Reading FC!

7. Pog is a danger man if the service is of good enough quality.

8. Ba. His recent form is of great concern for us ahead of the game. One of the better signings in recent seasons imo. Especially when some clubs were put off by knee injury worries.

9. 2-1 Reading- baised? yes of course.

10. West Ham.

11. Natural selection. Newly promoted, haven't spent a great deal of money. We're bound to be among the relegation picks.

12. The new stadiums lack the 'in-built' atmosphere of the old ones. However, we would have found it difficult to progress as a club if the Madstad hadn't been built.

13. Are you Oxf*rd in disguise?

There you go, there is at least one sad case.

Which Reading player do you predict will have a big season?

Garath McLeary

Which Reading player do you predict will have a disappointing season?

On current form, most of them

What's a realistic aim for Reading this season? Where have you strengthened to achieve this?

17th, strengthened everywhere apart from the keepers

Who will win the Premier League this year and why?

Do not give a toss who wins the PL

How do you see the top 6 panning out?

Don't care

Which teams will be relegated and why?

Hopefuly any 3 apart from Reading, they'll be relegated because they weren't good enough to get enough points to stay up.

Who will be your danger man/men against Newcastle?

McLeary and/or Kebe if they turn up

Which Newcastle players are you worried about?

Just the ones in the black and white stripes but Cabaye and Ben Arfa are particulary scary :)

Finally, what do you reckon the score will be?

Reading 0-3 Newcastle

A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it?

Depends who you talk to, some fans don't like him because of the way he said to a Fans Forum that'd he planned to be at Reading forever and a week later went all quiet before disappearing to the 'appy 'ammers. Contrary to this there are a good few who like him, wish him well (except tomorrow) and thank him for the way he turned us around. In general though I think most supporters are indifferent to him as he's moved on, we've moved on and he has been respectful to the club since he went. Now if it was Mark McGhee as your manager that'd be something else.....

A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction?

At the moment yes. However we know we can play better than recent form (as proved by 30 mins playing Chelsea off the park at Stamford Bridge) but its whether the management can get the players to consistently believe that they are able to play at that level that's going to be the tricky bit.

The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium?

Had to move, sadly the ground made Loftus Road look like the Emirates and without moving we'd have had a "stadium" with about 10000 seats at best bolted onto old terraces and naff all income possible. Just a shame that the Mad Stad is another of the souless "plastic" bowl kits that are interchangeable from town to town.

Just love to have had one season in the top flight at Elm Park though, that would have been a brilliant way to bring some of these big time charlies down to earth and for all the criticism most away support would probably have enjoyed it as well

Which Reading player do you predict will have a big season?

Jimmy Kebe - Hes been injured for a lot of the past 2 seasons, but we sent him away for an op after getting promoted in April. Should play his first league game of the season tomorrow.
Which Reading player do you predict will have a disappointing season?

Adam Federici...benefit of hindsight. Outstanding last season but woefully out of form now. What's a realistic aim for Reading this season? Where have you strengthened to achieve this?

15th. New squad players in defence, PL experience in Pogrebnyak and Guthrie.
Who will win the Premier League this year and why?

Man Utd - RVP

How do you see the top 6 panning out?
2 Man City
3 Arsenal
4 Chelsea
5 Tottenham
6 Everton

Which teams will be relegated and why?
Norwich - league 1 team held together by Lambert. Hughtons a great manager but has little to work with.
QPR - keep changing their team, will pay for no consistency. Never too good to go down
Southampton - cos its them or us! Adkins their manager is like Sparky at QPR, another one too arrogant for a relegation battle.

Who will be your danger man/men against Newcastle?
Pogrebnyak...3 goals in 6 starts, Kebe, McAnuff (back on form).
Which Newcastle players are you worried about?
Cisse, Ba, Tiote, HBA...most of them really
Finally, what do you reckon the score will be?
3-0 Reading. We always thrash pardew
A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it?

Its basically because he walked out to join West Ham after being tapped up by Trevor Brooking. At the time he had taken us from struggling at the bottom of the third tier to 2nd in Division One, with a total committment and belief in PL football in Berkshire. When he went to West Ham it seemed he'd ended our mutual dream for more money, despite being showered in funds from Madejski. We sued him, put him on gardening leave and it went sour. He then took the Hammers to 6th, while we ended up 7th. That said, Pardew was Steve Coppell (aka the messiah)'s protege and the master who replaced him took us to another level. Pardew also brought in Brian Mcdermott (the second coming)
A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction?

Mostly laziness eg Lawrenson having no idea about our team. Some informed people have also predicted that though for good reasons.

The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium?
I think its moved from denigrating the new to venerating the old... the occasional reminder about attendances and which division we are in helps understand the move.
What would your reply be to the pillock who said this "I hope we stuff them. Reading fans are the biggest c*nts in football. To a man. No exceptions."?

Bemusement. Unless they were:
- Jealous Oxford fan
- Inbred Swindon fan
- Passionate Aldershot fan
- Silly Wycombe fan
- Comical West Ham fan
- Understandably aggrieved Brentford fan
- Hypocritical Wolves fan
- Welsh

Leigertwood

16th. Everywhere, but possibly not enough
Who will win the Premier League this year and why?
Man Utd - they'll be smarting at losing out to City last year.
How do you see the top 6 panning out?
With boring Predictability, Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, A N Other.
Which teams will be relegated and why?
At least any two from Saints, Us, West Ham, QPR, Wigan, Norwich and Villa. Possibly one from Sunderland, Fulham, West Brom, Swansea etc. The first lot just aren't good enough, the second lot could have bad season
Who will be your danger man/men against Newcastle?
Pogrebneyak, Guthrie, McCleary, Le Fondre or Shorey possibly. Probably none of them.
Which Newcastle players are you worried about?
Cisse, Ba, Ben Arfa, Cabaye. Most of them except Ameobi tbh.
Finally, what do you reckon the score will be?
1-3 to Newcastle
A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it?
We've mainly forgiven him But basically he talked to West Ham behind our backs after pledging his allegence to the club publically, leaving for the mega bucks when we were ahead of them in the table. Trevor Brooking (scumbag) announced live on BBC they were tapping him up.
A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction?
Lawrenson = lazy journalist with a dislike for us. There is a lot of people who just don't know enough about us, or the CHampionship in general. But we are struggling so it's hard to blame them for saynig we're in trouble.
The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium?
Loved Elm Park, but the move was the best thing we've ever done.

get lost you knuckledragging northern fukwit, you wouldn't know real football if it kicked you in the nuts saying "Hello, I'm real football you Northern Monkey"

Which Reading player do you predict will have a big season?

Pogrebnyak

Which Reading player do you predict will have a disappointing season?

The ones not being played like Cummings.

What's a realistic aim for Reading this season? Where have you strengthened to achieve this?

Staying up. Even making top half if we really attack the league.

Who will win the Premier League this year and why?

City. IMHO their squad is the best. The other teams, Chelsea and Man U have defensive concerns IMO. Arsenal probably won't score enough goals.

How do you see the top 6 panning out?

Newcastle could be in there, but I fancy Everton to make it in this year, at your expense.

Which teams will be relegated and why?

Fulham (lost Dembele, Depsey and zamora), Swansea (think they'll find it tough this year with a new manager not used to the Prem), Southampton (just think they'll be unlucky)

Who will be your danger man/men against Newcastle?

Kebe, Pogrebnyak

Which Newcastle players are you worried about?

That Argentian wing back you have (temporarilly forgotten his name), Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Ba, Cisse

Finally, what do you reckon the score will be?

Heart says 2-1 Reading, head says 1-1 draw.

A lot of Newcastle fans will be in the dark as to why Pardew isn't well-liked in Berkshire. Can you briefly explain it?

Not really. I don't personally hold any grudge against him, he set us up for our first Prem promotion afterall. Some didn't like the fact he left us for West Ham and the manner he went about it.

A lot of pundits are tipping Reading for relegation. Lazy journalists picking on the newly promoted, or do you share their prediction?

Most are probably lazy journalists, with the exception of the world class turnip, Mark Lawrensen, who seems to have something against Reading and who relishes predicting our doom.

The last game at Elm park was just over a decade ago, how do the older fans feel about the move away from the town centre and into the new stadium?

What would your reply be to the pillock who said this "I hope we stuff them. Reading fans are the biggest c*nts in football. To a man. No exceptions."?

I'd say we have our fair share of c*nts for sure, but so does every club.
