Told you so.... you bloody negative sods.

by CanaryCanary » 17 Nov 2012 16:51

I came on here after our lacklustre nil-nil and told you that you hadn't scored because we parked the bus, and that as shown in our four previous games we were bloody good at parking the bus.

Most of you were sounding the death knell predicting your certain relegation, and I said that all you needed was a win or a little bit of luck, a winning goal off of somebodies bum or whatever, for your season to suddenly turn itself around.

Now you have gone from 2 points from the bottom to 5 points from the bottom, are out of the relegation zone, and have one game in hand on the people in 18th.

You bunch of negative oxf*rd oxf*rd. I've started to love you though, I'll love you for as long as you manage to keep Villa and that cretin Lambert in the relegation zone. If Reading get Villa relegated I'm coming to the Madjeski next season with three hundred quid, walking into a home fans pub, and putting it behind the bar.

Come on you Royals, do it for me, come on..... Think I'll adopt myself a third team for one season only.

Alternatively, if Lambert gets sacked with you in 17th and them in 18th, I'll invite anybody in here to my local pub near Carrow Road and buy them a pint.

Come on Reading, oxf*rd do this.

Yep, thanks Canary. Hope you lose tonight, mind :?

Many of the comments on here ( eg about Le Fondre) have been outrageous and insulting to Brian and the lads.

I've just run through our village cheering that win, shouting my head off, what a fcking release of tension.

I know we're in for a tough season, but let's keep the faith, till the end.

If that happens, and your local pub is St Andy's Tav, and I happen to be in Norwich, I may take you up on that.

The only problem there canary is why quite so much Lambert hate? Thought you'd shafted Colchester the same way after a home tonking from them and Bryan Gunn got sacked. Don't tell me, you said please and thank you whereas Villa didn't.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be a bit peed off, but you might finish above them anyhow this time and he'd done a good job for you. Anyway, great win for us today but a long hard battle ahead.

One way of looking at it. Another is: we're a championship club. Hell we might stay up and become a Premiership club. But for the time being we get to see Everton. And Man Utd. And Man City. And Chelsea. Fanfuckingtastic and lets enjoy it while we can

Fair play Canary, you're right about the negative oxf*rd on this board. I too want Villa to go fown, but mostly because I don't like how their negative fickle fans got rid of Martin O'Neil. Look at them now! Hahshahahsha

Another incredible win for us, obviously I'm chuffed to see our players turn round a disastrous start.

Unfortunately couldn't be there tonight, I've had to go and do a few weeks work up north so I was stuck with a stream.... but we were brilliant, just as we were against Arsenal, a lucky mate got my season ticket for a game that he would otherwise not have been able to get a casual ticket for so I'm happy.

That's four clean sheets in five league games, one goal conceded in five, after seventeen conceded in the first seven. That's what I was trying to say to you last week, you couldn't score against us because at the minute nobody can.

At this moment in time I can see six worse teams than us, that's why you don't see me worrying. But I can see one team who aren't as good as Reading and four who are no better. I can't sit here and say that Wigan, Sunderland, Villa, or Southampton are any better than Reading. Stoke aren't exactly flying either, their football has become more one-dimensional and predictable than ever..... they used to pull out the long ball and long throws in the last half an hour, now they do it for ninety minutes.

Your form and results have been decent, you haven't even been thrashed yet, and I'm tempted to go and slap twenty on the bottom three staying as it looks now.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be a bit peed off, but you might finish above them anyhow this time and he'd done a good job for you. Anyway, great win for us today but a long hard battle ahead.

The hate doesn't stem purely from his decision to take a sideways (arguably backwards) step to a Premier League rival with a poorer squad and less money to spend than us. Although that does play a part, if he had left to manage Dortmund or Celtic, or have taken a clear step up to say Spurs with the chance to manage Gareth Bale and Kyle Walker and reunite with Kyle Naughton, the decision would have made more sense.

The hatred stems primarily from the interview that he gave three days before leaving in which he insisted in front of a room full of local and national journalists that he was happy at Norwich and wasn't looking to leave. The hatred stems from the way that he quite clearly talked with Villa behind our backs, before calling our Chairman when he knew that he was out of the country to demand permission to talk with a club that he had clearly already talked to.

Our chairman subsequently cancelled his business meeting immediately (he is the CEO of a couple of companies), and got on the first private jet that he could find. By the time that he had arrived in Norfolk a few hours later in the day he was informed that Lambert had resigned on the basis that we had breached his contract by refusing to allow him to talk to Villa.

Lambert is now suing Norwich for £2m. So he walks out on us without the bottle to tell our chairman to his face, and then sues us for breach of contract or 'constructive dismissal'. When Lambert took us over we were close to administration, stealing him from Colchester was a huge gamble,

Yes we stole him from Colchester, and yes we knew as a result that he cared only for his own ambitions, but Lambert didn't whack Colchester with a lawsuit and we did actually approach Colchester for permission to talk. When they refused permission to talk we talked to him anyway. After he joined Norwich we were in discussions with Colchester for a long time about compensation and made several offers, they were refused and the tribunal settled at a figure which was only higher than our offer by virtue of agreeing to pay more if we were promoted from the Championship (in otherwords, our offer to Colchester was deemed a fair one if we had failed to gain a second successive promotion).

Aston Villa made no approach to us for Lambert, and after signing him refused to pay compensation as a result of alleged breach of contract. Lambert's £2m lawsuit is clearly a tactic in an attempt to persuade us to drop our claim against Villa for compensation. Swansea got £5m for Rodgers and £2m for his two assistants I believe. We got a bit for Lamberts assistants, but nothing for Lambert.

While Lambert in the long run will go down as a Norwich legend by virtue of his record, and fans will in the long term be grateful for what he achieved here, right now the whole affair is a bitter one and Lambert was burnt bridges.

While an outsider could easily say "Well he got you up, that's worth forty million quid, just drop the claim against Villa and get on with things" or "just give him two million"..... Norwich fans know that with our financial situation so precarious when he took charge he would not have had a single penny to spend if it hadn't have been for the generosity of one of our directors who pumped a good £1 million in despite being a man of fairly modest means as far as football directors go, and the generosity of season ticket holders who gave up a rebate of over a hundred quid per season ticket which was owed due to relegation (renewal price was based on a £100+ reduction in price upon relegation), that put another £1 million into the club.

As well as that £2m we reached a one year agreement with creditors to suspend loan payments, and somehow managed to persuade them to give us more money. We put £4m on our debt in League One.

That's £6m that a club on the brink somehow found to gamble on that season, including the appointment of Lambert (a manager who had not won promotion at any club previously to employment). If he had failed, I would have serious feared for our future, I think we'd have had to have sold Carrow Road and we'd have been stuck down there for years.

Yes he did a fantastic job for us, but the board and the fans also did a fantastic job for him. It was a two way thing and everybody pulled together to get us out of that situation. Norwich fans think that it is a serious slap in the face for Lambert to sue the club for £2m, when just three years ago it was £2m in donated cash which gave him the platform from which to build his reputation. (He got generous pay rises after both promotions, he wasn't hard done by).

If Villa had thrown us a couple of million (which would have paid for Hughton, incidently) and Lambert hadn't have filed a lawsuit against us, then we probably wouldn't have too much reason to hate him. We have every right to sue Villa for compensation based on an illegal approach, that's a business to business dispute, Lambert made things personal.

So I'd like nothing more than to see Villa relegated and/or Lambert sacked, he can go and start again in a lower league or oxf*rd off back to Scotland. It never works out for Norwich managers who leave for the money by the way, just ask Mike Walker (feel free to find his Wikipedia entry).

He did once stop his Maserati in Norwich to let me cross the road though, so he's not all bad.

**** I should probably add a little disclaimer here. This is my perception of the incident based on various third party accounts and to a certain degree newspaper interpretation. The tribunal and court hearings in relation to Lambert are coming up in the near future and it may well be that more information comes to light in due course.

A highly interesting read Canary. The way Villa have gone about getting Lambert does seem incredibly bad. I hope you take them to the cleaners.

But our next 5 away games are Wigan, Villa, Southampton and Sunderland. Win a couple of them, which is quite a realistic prospect, and those home matches won't matter.

Sounds strangely familiar. Think we once had a manager by the name of Parjudas (or something like that) who told a fans forum of his great love for the club, only to jump ship for Brooking and WHU days later.
