redscot That is a fair point. (Unless you push your offspring into high paid jobs for "their" benefit...)
But if you work in a "dead end" job, then giving it up for 5 years should not make much difference.
The important thing is to invest time in the children while they are young so you do not end up as a stranger if you end up divorcing.
