As it would appear that these players are not good enough to play the style Adkins wants, why does he continue to play that way?

Surely it would make more sense to play a more direct style that these players can cope with until he can get the players in to play the way he wants?

Indeed. And I can't see anything on there to back up what you claimed.

Why was there even a thread then? Because everyone was being overly pessimistic?

Because some were?

Show me where a majority thought we'd be top two.

never said that thread had that in it m8. I actually wrote:

"the majority of the Adkins fan club were tipping us for top 2 at the start of the season with exactly this squad. Now it's the squad's fault, apparently"
and in response to one of your usual intelligent replies said

"there was even a thread entitled something like "Are we being overconfident?" and the general consensus was "no" "

My point remains - this squad is good enough to compete in this league. At the moment we are under performing.

Leon - In all seriousness is this squad actually better than our current position though?

Lots of them are ageing & past their best. McAnuff, Cummings, Kelly, Guthrie, Gorkss to name a few, others are acquisitions from mid table championship teams or League 1.

I'm not so sure....

I'll tell you who I feel sorry for - not the fans, nor Adkins, but the poor fella that has to put together the end of season 'highlights' DVD.

Give him two games to sort it out.
If we lose at home to Forest and go out of the FA Cup. He can think about picking up his P45

Westwood52 Too often Managers are unfairly sacked-however once you lose the Players there is no point him carrying on-trouble is there is no one at the Club to get Adkins out.

I doubt he has lost the players, but I think he has probably confused them with selection decisions that certainly look wrong from the sidelines. He does not keep it simple. For example, I wonder what the players thought when he brought on Blackman and Kelly today. They might not have known whether they were supposed to try to get back in the game or just see it out as a training exercise for the next game.

Current position is not projected position.
Anyone can see that surely?
We're getting worse, and worse and worse and worse!

And yet some people still claim that progress may suddenly appear out of thin air?
Madness!

Lol at Guthrie (26) and Cummings (24) being past (sic) their best.

P!ssed Off Adkins has 90 more minutes as far as I'm concerned.
If we lose against Forest then he's done as far as I'm concerned.
I think the majority of fans (regardless of what a few on HNA say) feel the same way.

I just don't get this attitude(not you directly, but the fans you are talking about), I will say this again and again until I'm blue in the face. Leicester City under Pearson. His first season was a season where he changed this to do things his way, it's taken him nearly TWO seasons to get the blend right, and they are reaping the benefits. Were Leicester fans on his back before January of his first season? No. They gave him the time he needed.

I don't follow Leicester mate.
Did Nigel Pearson's Leicester really go a whole half a season without 1 single decent performance?
I highly doubt it...

Leicester did okay for 2 seasons and now they're doing very well.
Pearson took over a squad in October that had finished 10th in the Championship the previous season.
Then he finished 9th, then 6th, now he's 1st.

Adkins is taking Reading down in quality and standing. How you can compare that Pearson's Leicester?

I'm not sure on half a season, I do know his first entire season was very inconsistent, very much like ours. He also had lack of investment, pretty much side by side with Adkins first season, albeit being half way through the first. Difference is, the fans didn't get on his back. Also, plenty of youth came through to the first team, when ours have, they've been ridiculed or sneered at by the fans.

I can compare quite easily, because it's a very similar situation we're in now to Pearson first season. Their fans gave him time, ours aren't prepared to give Adkins exactly that, it MUST be instant success

Good point - He may have to if he doesn't get any money. To be quite honest, I could see him walking if he gets no money & I wouldn't blame him.

What?! It'll be easy, we've had tons of possession in our own half, enough for years of DVDs to come!

Well I don't see any other top half Champ / Prem teams coming in for them....

If all our players are so good then why is no one chomping at the bit to sign them?

Praps because they're under contract and not available? Just a thought.
