Crowbar6753 I was just wondering when we last played Stockport at home? I remember watching us thrash them 6-2 in what i believe was our first home game of the 1983 season. We were on the mighty Southbank :D and i just googled the attendance and it was just over 2600!! However it wouldn't show me any of the scorers that day, guessing maybe Dean Horrix (R.I.P) and Kerry Dixon?

Was at game. Senior scored hat trick in four minutes, Beavon scored direct from corner and I think Wayne Tutty (RIP) scored.

Yep, totally remember now, how could i forget big Trev!!!

Forget what the RFC website preview says about only F 1’s running- ALL football buses are back to normal running as it’s a league match.

Hat trick in 4 minutes 12 seconds to be exact. Rutter and Williams scored for Stockport. Attendance was 2689. Saturday September 3rd. No TV highlights extant it seems. County keeper, Mike Salmon, was only 19 and in his second league game for them.

T'interweb tells me the last home game was a 5-1 win at the Mad Stad in Division One in 1997-8.

Fearing a repeat of the Blackpool home game. They’re a good well organised team and given that a lot of our squad are unwell/injured I can see us losing.

Always possible Stockport are on a run of 1pt from the past 4 away games - so if we get at them and get ahead, we should win. If we fall behind though, that will be a real test.

In terms of turning around deficits - we are currently 10th when it comes to picking up points from a losing position - fallen behind 11 times and picked up 1 win and 3 draws.

Stockport have failed to win a game once they've gone behind - drawing 3 and losing the other 7 times.

T’interweb is telling you utter porkies. The last home game v Stockport was a 1-0 win (Morley pen) at Elm Park in November 1997. The 5-1 was a win for Stockport in the return fixture in March 1998. Also Reading didn’t move to the Mad Stad until August 98.

Doh, that's my fault, reading a results grid the wrong way, forgetting when we moved. I should just have gone to bed last night.

Trevor Morley, that's a blast from the past, and when you think of the forwards that have played up front for RFC...Billy Whitehurst Trevor Senior, your man Friday. And in more recent times, Kits could put himself around as well. Generally hard muvvas, especially Billy.

In the torrential downpour, when we were 4-0 down at half time.......

And then there was Kevin Doyle, a lean machine, very little aggression. Prolly our best ever forward. Love him. And Friday, of course.

And we had Mick Tait at the same time - you really wouldn’t want to put a foot wrong there.

Imo Kitson > Doyle.

Harder to say on older greats like Quinn. On his day Joao, though that obviously faded away quite quickly.

No real time for Joao. On his day, as good as any I've seen for us, and I include Kitson and Doyle in that. But no consistency, no fight when the chips were down and too often totally disinterested. You don't build success on players like that.

I'd agree with that, for that half a season under Pauno, Joao was as good as anything we've ever had up front. He then missed a few games through injury and came back & missed a pen against Preston and never seemed to be the same player after that.

Right up there with the most frustrating players we’ve had. Had everything in his game except attitude and effort when things weren’t going well

He was basically great from the moment he joined, but couldn’t keep fit. Then had an oustanding six months, got injured, missed pen, fell apart and then gave up because we were shit and playing him as a target man to just get lumps kicked out of him.

Doesn't look like the greatest crowd, tbh. Could be south of 11,000 home fans, which I think would be the worst for a Saturday 3pm this season.
