Snowflake Royal There's basically no way GD can come into it, right?

Better their results and GD doesn’t matter.

WW that's a minimum of +22 for them at 1 goal wins, so we've got to get 6 goal wins in both games just to tie.
WD +21 minimum, requires an 11 goal win in 1 game, with two wins we're ahead on points.
WL say +1, -4, that's +17, means we have to win one by 7 and lose one by 1,
DD - can't increase our GD unless we go ahead on points
Anything worse than that results wise and we're either ahead on points or we can't increase our GD.

Rovers next, so I guess we could go out and try and smash them, but we're not exactly creating or scoring a lot right now, bar Mansfield gifts.

It's not 0% but it would possibly be the most ridiculous goal difference overturn in history.

Fingers crossed then for Rovers having 3 sent off in the first half hour and Reading going on to rack up a double figure win.

Article in The Guardian about Birmingham name checks us.

Now Birmingham, who travel to Stevenage on Thursday, have records in their sights, namely Wolves’ 103-point haul in 2013-14 and the Football League record of 106 points set by Reading when they were promoted from the Championship in 2005-06. They could also eclipse Doncaster’s 1946-47 record of 33 league wins in a season. “We want to finish in style because I think that will show who we are,” Gardner says. “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”

Despite potentially breaking the point record, feel like they'll still be in a relegation scrap next season.

They seem to have, under Chris Davies, the obsession that we sometimes had under Paunovic of playing out from the back but without the players with enough confidence and ability to pull it off successfully. In League One most of the few goals they have conceded have come from overplaying around their own box. They’ve also got away with it a few more times too but the chances of getting away with the errors will reduce in the Championship and they will concede more comedy goals next season as i cant see Davies adapting or changing his playing style.

I imagine they will strengthen and compete for a top six finish next season.

Didn't cheer, probably the reason they lost. Looking at their final three, we need them to drop at least 5pts to even level it and that includes games against Mansfield and Cambridge, could see Blackpool getting a win, especially with the tight schedule they have but as for the points record? Looks gone.

Guess we’ve just got to enjoy the numerous mentions of “Readings’ record being beaten” across the media as Brum bask in their new found glory.

Meh - holding a record like that for nearly 20 years is a good run - my feeling is that as football gets more skewed financially then whatever marker Brum end up setting (I reckon 108) will be surpassed in the very near future anyway.

We'll just have to beat it next year when Couhig strengthens our already miraculously good side.

Couldn’t care less rather have no record and a club next season.

I don’t mean this to sound churlish, but League One is vastly different to Championship. I don’t know why the distinction isn’t made every time the points tally’s are mentioned.

Let them have the League One Points record and we’ll keep the Championship one. And I’ll remain completely unbothered until 106 is broken in the Champ.

Plus we all know Brum bought the league

Nail on head. The range of budgets and capabilities of teams is vastly wider in Tier 3 than the Championship, so it'd far easier to just fund a team that will steamroller themselves to the top and potential records. The Championship has far less range, far greater budgets across all the teams, and a far lower "range" of abilities. Plus you'll always be competing against at least 3 teams with PL parachute payments.

Well, not when we set the record since they started in 06/07

Reading’s record won’t be broken by a team like Reading, very little money spent on a squad with virtually no PL experience of any note and absolutely zero parachute money. While Lita was £1m that was hardly big bucks for the Championship even 20 years ago.

The record will be broken by a team that “Birmingham’s” a division with oodles of dosh and players who mostly should be playing in a division above.

Be interesting to see how the FL view Brum’s P&S position in the next couple of seasons.
