I didn't go to many games, but I thought one of our problems was that we didn't really have many alternative plans for coping with different types of teams. But I suspect that that is not uncommon at this level.

yup, if plan A didn't work, there was no plan B. Just like for like, or worse, swaps.

Although there's nothing wrong with having one plan and sticking to it, going to your back up personel to have a better impact, if your plan A is good and you've got some good squad depth.

Tom Holmes - likely to be loaned out again
Tom Mcintyre - likely to be loaned out again if not bought by Charlton if promoted
Yakou Meite - Free agent likely release
Andy Rinhomota - Free agent likely release
Nelson Abbey - likely to go out on loan again
Ethan bristow _ free agent

Rinhomota is the sort of downgrade from Savage we should be looking at if we can sell him on for a pretty penny. Not shown as good but we know he’s got it in him plus our players don’t seem to do great after going to Cardiff in recent years.

Rinomhota started really slowly at Cardiff. Barely figured, but by all accounts this season he's been excellent at right-back. Got Player's Player of the Season. Wouldn't be against signing him at all and I'm generally reluctant to go back for former players or managers.

Agree - never think you should go back for players when they've left but we've had so many players who have left and, either, they didn't want to go or the manager didn't want them to go that it makes it a different scenario.

We've had a fair few players leave in recent years because we had to sell or release for money reasons. Or because they were too promising to stay in our shit show, but haven't quite reached their potential and are still pretty decent for our current diminished level.

And a lot of them are still in their prime.

I think that's what makes it different and more reasonable to bring back the likes of Rino, Holmes, Abbey, Meite etc, if its an affordable deal. Its not a case of bringing back a club legend in the twilight of their fast fading career, like some others there have been.

Yeah, but you handle that with the fitness test. Its a step down and he's young enough if he can be reasonably fit he can do ok. If you don’t think he can stay fit you just don’t go there. I don’t think that's something we can call

Yeah there’s no real basis in the ‘never to back’ cliche - each player who is available should just be judged on their merits. Obvs someone like Meite or McIntyre you’d know would basically fit back in so gives them a bit of an advantage but other than that if you think they’d do a job on a wage we could afford then why not?

FWIW I don’t think we’ll re sign any of them. Outside chance of Abbey on loan or Meite but still very much doubt it

Good news, though as good as he has been I'm not sure he'd do very well in the Championship. 3 years feels the upper end of what we should offer, and I hope it hasn't been given a dramatic increase in wages.

Definitely club captain material. Would like to see him back a little further forward next season.

Then again, he's on a par with most of the Europa League Final midfielders from what I saw.
