i notice in the clubs training vid ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5blM4Lc-xwU ) that Hunt suggests (1.30 mins in) to the new players that we train with more intensity than other teams and if 'they get a kick' it is just how it is here. No idea if this contributes to the amount of injuries the team gets but surely it can't help.

Risky. That certainly seems to be a necessary part of having players capable of playing our high intensity press through the game, but injuries are the consequence.

At the other end, we've seen what happens with a low intensity skills based approach where the players just can't play 90 minutes and get out fought.

i spoke with S Hunt last night. Paudie will be in the matchday squad Saturday. Unlikely to get any minutes though. Possibly Wrexham he might get some time on the pitch.

We’ve got a couple of Trophy games coming up too. If he’s close now, I imagine he’ll be playing some part of those two.

So if he's very unlikely to get minutes what exactly is the point wasting a bench option on him?

Well, CBs usually only get subbed on in an emergency, so he's hardly likely to be brought on just to put some minutes in his legs is he. If he's on the bench and likely to feature at Wrexham, it'll be because he could come on as a sub if needed.

Not that being in the matchday squad means you're on the bench.

Not sure why Noel's brother is party to detailed squad selection information though.

Because he's O'Connor's agent.

Neither O'Connor or Yiadom are available on Sat but both have been out on the grass again.

Nothing I heard about re potential Burns Injury.

No wonder we're struggling so much if our key players are spending all their time on the grass.

Hunt's post match comments suggested Jacob may stay centre half at the weekend.....sounds like Williams and may Dorsett are out and O'Connor isn't ready as has been suggested.

Garcia went off in the first half against Wrexham so probably a doubt for the weekend (and the foreseeable?)

  Was about to make a similar quip.

Joking aside, this is a disaster for us. POC needs to return ASAP as Burns and Stickland are not good enough as a pair. I'd actually start Dorsett over Stickland.

Yeah, that's not good.

I thought Stickland was a bit improved against Wrexham... but him and Burns is a nightname combination of slow, inexperienced and clumsy.

Hopefully O'Connor can step in. Agree I'd put Dorsett ahead of Stickland... possibly even Burns tbf.

Agree - Stickland is L2 standard at best, I'd have Dorsett & Jacob as centre half before him.

Oh great, the 'old school approach'. I seem to remember P Ince adopted the same approach and that it leaked out that the sports scientists and physios were far from happy with it.

I suspect that Hunt wasn't allowed to opt for that ultra high intensity approach with the academy youngsters and rightly so.

I also suspect that, unlike Dai, Couhig and co will want to dig deep into things to try to identify why so many of their assets are getting injured. Based on what they have said about their modus operandi, they like their data and for decisions to be based on such data.
