Mellberg v Ingimarsson

by Maguire » 23 Aug 2006 15:12

I've always felt Mellberg was quite overrated and has been living off playing in World Cups and competing in the highest division of English football. Given the choice, who would you rather have in the middle?

Ingimarsson for me. In fact, the only player from Villa's side I would have in our team is probably Gareth Barry. None of the others would add to our squad really.

I certainly wouldn't mind him as cover for a year and see how he does in training. I think you may be being a bit harsh on the lad. Villa don't frighten me too much at the moment though.

I'd have Mellberg in our side because we could do with a centre-back who looks like he could wrestle bears and has a great beard.

Mellberg was very good until he became the senior centre back at Villa - I'd suggest he needs an older, wiser head to control him a little bit.

Stephen Davis would be great in our midfield by as he is being looked at by some of the top clubs in the country he is way out of our range.

Sorensen and Ridgewell would also be welcome additions.

Maybe you need to show a bit more faith in our team?

None of those three have beards and therefore would not add anything to our side.

I agree with Wycombe. Davis is a cracking little player.

As for adding to our squad well I'd take any of Davis, Barry, Baros, Angel and either of their keepers (Sorenson and Taylor). They might not all make the starting eleven but they'd definately improve the squad.

Reading rejected an offer from Hamburg for Ivar in the summer according to Icelandic media (at least that was said during the Iceland-Spain build-up last week).
