LOL! So apart from Handbags telling Jobi what to do when he went offside, what actually happened in this game that anyone who was there noticed?

Blackpool scored two decent goals, Keith Southern should have been shown a straight red for a challenge similar to Shane Long's against West Brom, two first half injury-induced substitutions, and that was about it really. £24.50 - well it's a gamble really isn't it? You pay your money in the hope of seeing a decent game, sometimes you don't get it.

And do you think they were subdued by a team that knew how to play against us, or did the pitch have anything to do with it? And do you think any of the injuries looked serious?

Blackpool are a decent team, take nothing away from them. They're 7th in the league because they really are that good. All those slating Ian Holloway as manager should take a look at his record as a manager really and stop being blinded by a few comical quotations he made a number of years ago. I'd have happily had him here. In this league, if you don't play well then that, in some part, is due to the opposition stopping you playing. The pitch had a lot to do with the quality of the game, and obviously was a hindrance but McDermott said on Thursday that we'd have to alter our style of play to suit the pitch and it clearly didn't work. That obviously meant being more direct, so quite why he played Simon Church up front on his own when the defence and midfield were lumping high balls up to him is beyond me. We only started to look like a consistent threat once Rasiak came on because he, quite simply, won most if not all of his headers. I'm struggling to remember a header he missed out on tbf. WRT the injuries, Bryn went off for us only a couple of minutes after being wiped out by Keith Southern. I do wonder if Southern's challenge was a retribution attempt as five minutes before he'd been in a shoving match with Bryn after a somewhat inoccuous looking challenge on another Blackpool player by Ryan Bertrand. There was probably more to the challenge that met the eye from our view, but it all seemed a bit "why are they all piling in?". Southern had Bryn by the neck at one point and shoved him away a couple of times.

Aside from the on the pitch failures it was also a match where there could be no atmosphere generated. Such a contrast to CP. We all knew this would be the case but we had hoped for something on the pitch to trigger us as supporters. Sadly not to be. Not even a few sporadic chants could get off and running in such a soulless place.

My favourite moment was when I plucked that falling ball, that had been cleared by a Blackpool player into our stand, out of the air.

Despite his assertion that the FA Cup is not a distraction, McDermott very swiftly removed Church and Gunnarson when there was a hint of injury.

Just that, the teddy and the poor challenge on Bryn. There were some seagulls as well.

Karacan was a bit poor too actually. Could be a great player for us but needs to up it considerably next game.

Thaumagurist*
Bubbly4Me Worst game I've seen for a while, for sure.

Worse than the Plymouth 4-1 away defeat?

I didn't get to see that one unfortunately.

In a ranking of 4 games:

From wosrt to best

1) QPR headless chicken mode and the most vociferous game of the season for BR. Pure anger at a team that didn't look like they wanted to be there.
2) Peterborough for sheer capitulation. Car crash football.
3) Plymouth - just as bad as QPR but it was like running your finger over a blunt knife and hoping for blood!!
4) Blackpool - total none event. A real strange match which seemingly left the support stupifyingly bored.

we got all the train talk out the way in the working mans club before the game. It was lucky we did, as Handbags may never have abused McAnuff in the same way

Cookie Despite his assertion that the FA Cup is not a distraction, McDermott very swiftly removed Church and Gunnarson when there was a hint of injury.

Interesting point.

If Gunnarsson had a proper dead leg he'd have to have come off as he wouldn't be able to run or use that leg properly.

Not sure on the Church injury, it may be possible that McDermott was already considering a change upfront, which is quite common for him and the injury just brought it about a bit quicker.

It's not something I'd really thought of, but quite possible that he had one eye on tomorrow nights game and protecting them for that.

So you'd prefer he left injured players on the pitch?

I think it depends how injured they are floyd.

I'm presuming that he's suggesting the injuries might not have seen either player sub'd off if it wasn't for tomorrow nights replay. It might well be the case, I doubt it, but we'll never know.
