paultheroyal Getting excited for the new season now. Fresh start, so many new faces making their debut, this could go one of two ways, let's hope it's the positive one!

What are you on?

Would take a picture but cant upload from my phone. Sorry.

Elm Park Kid If that Pog story is remotely true then it gives you some insight to the serious problems the club has. £55k a week is enough to cover the salaries of at least 4 decent championship standard players. Throw in the rumoured salaries of players like HRK, McCleary and Williams and it's not hard to see how the club could be spending an entire squad's worth of salary on 5-6 players. It's hardly surprising that Clarke can't really add to that total unless savings are made in other areas.

Until some of those players are off the books our options are limited. I just hope we can get through the season . . . . .

It's not remotely true, only the daily fail has reported this and everyone else who has much closer connections to the club has rubbished it.

Whisper it quietly but that green light we've all been talking about may have arrived. Things may be beginning to move. #readingfc

Nick Hammond could provide cover for the Thailand trip, but not sure he'd be a long term solution with Stuart Moore.

Let's hope Reading get a keeper before the trip.

So if that was the deal when we signed him , and it's the deal now he's got his 4th year pay rise someone is wrong somewhere....

IIRC it was also 'established' that the figures quoted when we signed him might have been expressed in terms of 'per week' but included a pretty huge signing on fee.

As ever, the media are guessing, and not being very clear on what these figures mean, and often just reporting what the rest of the media are reporting and it's next to impossible to know the truth. Except that Pog probably earns a decent salary.

3points SCIAG - I don't disagree with the principal of your comment. The point i was trying to make is that most people would assume Ake and Chalobah are deemed to be better players than Kuhl as they are in the Chelsea academy and are regular U21 internationals. Whether that is true or not depends, at this stage, on an individual's relative perspective. Personally I thought they both looked better than most of our squad, but that's me. However, because they are "Chelsea players" I think supporters' expectations is higher which is why many didn't think they were that good but, at the end of the day, neither may make it in top flight football and Kuhl may do.

Nameless Be fair though. Challah and Ake are older than Kuhl so no surprise they are playing for the older age group internationally. Kuhn was playing for his age group England side last season.....

Chalobah is only 12 months older than Kuhl and has already now played three full seasons in first team football at Championship and a taste of above. By the time he was Kuhls age he'd a pretty key role in the Watford team that finished 3rd in the Championship then spent another season on loan at Forest and 'Boro playing week-in week-out for both teams.

Kuhl has, I think, played just the once for the under 19s and that's it. At that level England like to dish out a lot of caps to take a look at as many players as possible. Chalobah on the other hand has consistently played a year or two above himself through all the age groups and been a key player and captain of those sides as he's progressed. I don't think you can really compare the two in terms of their progress or how people who matter perceive their quality or potential.

For me I prefer Kuhl's style of play but I'm also not a fan of Chalobah so I'm biased there.

Apparently yes in the second qualifying round against Gibraltar's Lincoln FC or Andorra's FC Santa Coloma.

urz13 Obviously Sa will be on fairly low wages, but if we're spending over £1m on him then that's an encouraging sign that the financial side is starting to improve

Not if that's our only money for transfers!

Just had a browse through the Championship released list and one that sprang out immediately was Bakary Sako. Definitely Prem class for me, we should be getting him in as a direct and more capable replacement for Hal Robson-Kanu.

1) Doesn't mean anything, he'd join if we gave him Robson-Kanu's wage
2) We're not mates

You didn't call him an ostrich, or suggest his head is in the sand. I think you like him..
