Row Z Royal
working class hero McAnuff [watford] and Rasiak [soton] have now signed for us.

Play offs suddenly become a possibility?

They're introducing a relegation play off?

Royal Lady Knee jerk signings - cheap transfer fee (not so sure about wages) and hoping to placate the fans after losing out on Smith. Well, I'm not placated. I'm totally and utterly fed up now.

Exactly. One home win, why not give it the big un?

Notice my comment re McAnuff was via a Watford fan. I think Mcanuff has been head and shoulders Rodgers best signing. Rasiak probably second, the rest DUMP, so far.

This is more referring to how Ras and McAnuff have been probably our two best players this season, despite the critiscisms they received when signed.

Oh, and Howard/O'Dea/Bertrand have not been dump.

HTH.

I will give you Bertrand as I'd forgotten him , not a fan of Howard and I'd temporarily forgotten about O'Dea also  although he's only been ok thus far. I quite like Rasiak but he hasn't been one of 'our best two players this season'.

TBF AP, I know some of us are getting a bit carried away, but after the ridiculous knee-jerk reactions after QPR away I don't think you can blame us for being optimistic.

There was nothing knee jerk about those reactions. They'd been building gradually for weeks.
Just as there is nothing knee jerk about my current reaction. It too has been building for a while now.

So calling for a manager to go after 13 games isn't knee-jerk?

Admittedly I don't get to as many games as i used to, i made a rare forage to QPR, and at the time I don't think anything could have been knee jerk after it, it really was THAT bad. It was Bolton today bad, Stoke today bad, Wigan today bad!! If QPR had been more clinical 9 would have been a serious possibility. We lacked direction, ideas, any sense of what the best team was, nailed on certainties to go down.

I've said it before I'll say it again, personally I don't like Rodgers so I find it hard to get behind him but you can't say Reading haven't got better since then because they have. They are a million miles away from that QPR game and thank God for that. Credit where it's due I think he's got a core of 6/7 players that he trusts in and the other 4/5 places are up for grabs for a select few.So the team selections *should* be a bit more consistant now.

I'm not convinced he's the right person for the job or that Reading will sustain decent form over a period of time but of course we'll see on that one. Hope I'm wrong on this occasion.

People know that I'll defned BR and the status quo on here, but QPR wasn't just a defeat - it was an abject surrender. I have to say that if BR had been given the boot at that point I don't think many would have been surprised and that decsion would have been quite understandable then. But having survived that he was safe(ish) for a while.

That really was the low point, and it's been upwards all the way from there.

Is there any news of Church's injury yet down there ? if he is going to be out for a few games what do the more knowledgeable of us think we will do, re-call, Mooney or Bignall, or bring someone in, or (in my limited view) go by the egomonster "cloth cutting" rules, as in being as broke as we are. and make do with what we have ??

bertrand- the most consistent and classy signing of the lot
mills- looked good after he settled in,
howard- not universally popular- and has the same tendancy to give the ball away-but always looks to attack- has a sweet left peg, and has been the CM partner to marek thats seen our form turn around

so cummings was put in too soon- who else is "dump" then?

I think Mills for £2million so far has been crap.
I am not a fan of Howard, I don't think he offers us anything that Davies, or Sigurdsson, or a couple of others that were already here do.
Cummings is the worst full back I have ever seen.
O'Dea has been up and down which is why he isn't playing I suppose, although I do quite like him.
I quite like Rasiak, despite him not being very good he will score goals.
McAnuff I have been impressed with.
Bertrand from what I've seen is ok. I don't get the mass love in from certain quarters about him as he's done a good job in there in the main but I wouldn't say he's considerably better than Stretch. Reading needed a left back and he's done a good job.

About opinions.

Out of his signings Mills,Cummings and O'Dea didn't play and Rasiak was on the bench yesterday.
Bertrand has been consistent as has McAnuff so it's probably something like 5/10 so far.
