Lacoste
TheBaldOne Garry Monk in my opinion is our best shout atm, if Bergkamp is off to Swansea that is.

Talk us through why Monk would be a good appointment.

Took Swansea to their highest ever finish last season. Plays good possession football, but also shown to be adaptable in his approach, a perfect fit for the players we have. Wouldn't want us to revert back to a McDermott style of hoof ball, the players we have are too good for that approach.

Why? Do you think there are better options?

He took over a good squad who were already set out to play nice football. They did well last season, but he's somehow turned them into relegation candidates this season.

Do people not think that McDermott possibly only played 'hoof ball' before, because he thought that was the most effective way to get the best out of the squad he had?

I seem to recall us playing some decent stuff in the second half of 09/10, playing on the ground through the likes of Gylfi and Brian Howard, who were more suited to that type of play. We also had good overlapping full backs, particularly Bertrand, who got up and down better than Harte could after him.

He might try a different approach with the players we now have (if he's appointed, of course) and play it on the ground more.

Regardless of playing styles, however, we need to have clinical finishers otherwise all the build up doesn't really matter.

Will people stop persisting with this Brian "hoof ball" nonsense.

His first season with Gylffi to the fore was not hoofball. neither was the following play off season.

Even the promotion season , whilst a little more direct, was still based mainly on counter attacking wing play. Not a million miles away from the 106 teams style if we're honest.

Sure we lost our way a little in the Premier League but it's a nonsense to prescribe one style of football to McDermott. Also with some time out of the management spotlight at Arsenal it's more likely he'll have picked up something over the last year or so.

He's been scouting for players to play in an Arsene Wenger team , not an Ian Branfoot one.

Far far too early to call them relegation candidates, they've been on a poor run of form yes, but what club hasn't been on a poor run at one point with the Premier League getting more and more competitive, look at Chelsea for example, is Jose Mourinho now somehow a poor manager due to this one season of poor form? No. He also took over from them when they were "relegation candidates" and did pretty well...

The fact of the matter is, he has been at Swansea for 12 years, seen them through the Championship and stabilise themselves in the Premier League. He will know better than most what is required to do so.

Northern Ireland not foreign? :?

Last I checked NI was part of the UK

But we're not a NI club, we're an English club

You do know that England and Northern Ireland are different countries, don't you....hence why they both have their own international team

Not getting involved in the whole nationality deb8 here, but basing your knowledge on whether somewhere is a country or not around whether they have an international football team is probably not the best thing to do.

wrt the OP, I don't really care, I just wish they'd decide soon.

I need to change my SteveClarkeRoyalz1871 (and variants) passwords asap. They didn't last long tbh.

It doesn't sit quite right to class other Brits as foreign, personally.

Do you count Cardiff and Swansea as foreign teams?

Actually, you raise a great point here.

If we all pick our passwords based on championship managers and their teams, it would be ultra-secure as we would have to change them frequently.

Though we're all British, the Irish, the Scots and the Welsh are allowed to have identity while the English are not.

Next topic, are Catalan's and Basque's Spanish?

Now there's me thinking the Irish, the Scots and the Welsh are allowed to have their own parliaments and national anthems. If I'm wrong there please let me know.

Not true, just look at the Cornish. Or Yorkshire.

If you're from the home counties tough luck though.
