Mid Sussex Royal
morganb #ReadingFC injury update:

• Amadou Mbengue had a minor concussion.

• Ben Elliott has a bit of a thigh injury which needs to be looked at by a specialist.

• Kelvin Abrefa and Andy Yiadom are back onto pitch.

• Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan is back in a couple of weeks

James Earnshaw just tweeted Elliott is out for months rather than weeks

Fantastic. Still suppose it means he won’t go in Jan

That’s Kelvin E back well ahead of schedule isn’t it?

Only positive I can really think of in midfield is Abrefa (along with Ahmed progressing) returning could allow Michael Craig to go more central. A fit Rushesha may get more opportunities too.

That's not good news apart from he's now safe from being sold in the upcoming window.

Reading boss Noel Hunt is hopeful of having Amadou Mbengue, Tivonge Rushesha and Kelvin Abrefa back involved for Boxing Day's visit of Northampton Town

That would certainly strengthen us.

Gives a lot more options in defence, which can potentially free up Craig for midfield.

Yeah can’t see any actual quotes on this but if true then definitely a big help

We’ve looked weak at FB recently and Mbengue is a big player for us

Time for Rushesha to make an impact

I thought he'd be fullback cover, and he'd be out of his depth in midfield, but his more recent cameos he's looked more a midfielder again.

If he doesn't start getting minutes soon, it's got to look like he'll be out the door at the end of the season. Although, a mass exodus in July would give him a chance.

In an interview after the Lincoln game, Hunt said there were 13 players out injured. This is my attempt at the 13, assuming that players who have disappeared without trace are in fact injured. Mbengue and Rushesha now back, of course.

Goalkeeper - Boyce-Clarke
Left-back - Clarke, Ryan
Centre-back - Mbengue, Dorsett
Right-back - Yiadom, Abrefa
Midfield - Elliott, Spencer, Rushesha, Akande
Forward - Ehibatiomhan, Tuma

Ryan had an ACL in July, so effectively I expect that's the whole season. Elliott might be back end of March. Ehibatiomhan and Dorsett late January. Yiadom and Abrefa "soon".

Anyone have other info?

Yiadom becoming more and more imminent to return, but it’ll take a while to get to game speed after his preseason was knackered.

Think the Burnley game may see both him and Dorsett on the bench.

I wonder if when Yiadom returns he'll look compare cooked and past it, given age and extent of injuries. Would presume he has lost a yard of pace. I remember McShane going off a cliff at the end of his career.

I think his pace and tenacity has been a huge part of his game and have the same worries.

He's not a player like Ian Harte who can make up for it with brilliant positioning and banging a free kick in every other game.

Gone are the days where we can sign top players from other clubs in our league. He'll probably still be our best option.

I don't think so.

Harte and McShane never had pace. If Yiadom gets fit enough to play, he'll be fine I reckon.

Dorsett was originally 3-4 weeks....we must be about 3 weeks already.

I'd hope he's back for the cup game.

Yiadom was getting back to proper training, but it'll be a while of that before he's match ready. Abrefa the one supposed to be closer.

If he’s got novovirus then that could be pretty bad for the squad. Is so contagious the whole squad could go down with it especially as they are in such a compact space like a bus.
