Platypuss All told, that's a pretty evil draw for the Prem - there can only be a maximum of 10 Prem teams in R5.

As there can only be a maximum of 16 teams in R5 that's still a pretty large probable percentage.

It's the absolute maximum, and I'm sure there were more than 10 in R5 last season.

Yep. There were 11.

Looks like 11 the previous season (04/05)

03/04 was 8, maybe 9. That's the year Millwall reached the Final.
Only 7 the previous season.

Interesting. So this season looks like it could be around the average.

Probably end up with a couple of interesting ties in R5/6 and finish with another Man Utd-Arsenal final. Oh joy.

If I wasn't (ahem) writing my thesis, I'd go through the lot in recent years, but yes, 10 looks about average.

If we beat Burnley, I can garuntee it will be Birmingham who beat Newcaslte. Just the same as last season then  Apart from the fact we're now the premiership side, and their Championship!

I reckon we've got more chance of beating Newcastle than Brum.

Dont they normally choose the cup ties they want to screen this week? and arent the ones they choose guranteed to be an interesting draw - I'm not sure Birmingham V Burnely would get a great viewing percentage!

Surely

Arsenal v Bolton
Chelsea v Notts Forest
Man Utd v Portmouth

will be selected - perhaps Wolves v West Brom as well.......

I'm not worried about Brum or Newcastle because I'll be very suprised if we even beat Burnley.

Doubtful, Newcastle will be taking this very seriously.

They've only just announced the replay games being shown, so will imagine they'll wait until after those have been played.

BBC will pick two all Premiership ties because they feel they have to and Sky will look for a possible shock so QPR/Luton V Blackburn could well be on.

I'd expect the following:

Sat

Lunchtime: West Ham V Watford (poss Newcastle V Us if we both get through)

Evening: Arsenal V Bolton

Sun

BBC: Man Utd V Pompey
Sky: QPR/Luton V Blackburn or if Boro get thru their game.

Birmingham had their chance on Saturday. They played the better football, but Newcastle turned it on when it mattered. I'd bet on Newcastle.

As for a lesser team going all the way. Tough draw for the serious possibles like Bolton and Portsmouth. At this stage Tottenham, Blackburn and Newcastle are about the best bets to make a run. Of those, Spurs and Newcastle are probably too inconsistent. Intersting to see if the Blackburn renaissance takes them to the final.

Jaidi being sent off in the first half did tend to help with that a little.

i really hope it is birmingham as although it was fun going up 2 newcastle it was bloody expensive. especially if it the reserve team playing.

Thats not the point. We're a Premiership team who were very lucky to get a 3-3 draw against Darlington. Burnley are slightly better then Darlington

I remember the 3-3 EP Newcastle draw back in the late 80's cracking game a certain Mark McGee scored for them and Gilkesy scored a cracking equaliser in injury time from a run inside his own half.
Got stuffed SJP in the replay, didn't Senior score for us ?

Strap wasn't it on that video I sent you ?

I would agree, apart from the fact that there is no such team as Notts Forest. There's Notts County and Nottingam Forest, but no Notts Forest...
