Are we really paying 5k a week?

Our last two signings from Spurs were Darren Caskey and Stuart Beavon - Be great if he was as good.....

Pearce, Khumalo and Sonko, Morrison with Bryn, Harte, Griffin all able to play CB

I think that's BRILLIANT and overall I am VERY glad Mills is gone.

Keep Long, get an AM and I'd be ecstatic

The Prisoner
ZacNaloen Can anyone confirm if he can be called back in January?

If you weren't being ironic he can (tho I typed this without reading previous pages as usual!!!!). Harry Redknapp said he could when he all but confirmed the transfer after their friendly game in the States in a telly interview yesterday

I am a little surprised that this seems to break with BMcD's philosophy of only loaning players we think we can buy. This guy only joined Spurs in January so is the move because he a) needs English playing time to adapt (in which case he shouldn't be joining!) or b) is surplus already and we have agreed a fee for if it works out?

Seems odd to be shipped out so soon without getting a look in? The new Greg Halford?!

Don't get me wrong, pleased with the signing, but something seems a little odd?

just as with bertrand there is a chance, that if we do well/go up, and spurs continue to have about ten defenders ahead of him, he may want to come to us, just so he can play. who knows.

Good old FM, I could manage a club using this game. normally spot on with their stats

The best way to to judge a player's ability is to watch them. The second best way is to listen to the views of experts and fans who have watched them, with some stats to back up opinions.

The third best way is undoubtedly FM. Players are scouted, stats are often accurate. Many stars of the game have been predicted by FM; it's a great scouting tool and Everton actually have a contract with FM's scouting network because it's so comprohensive and accurate. Story here:

http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/ ... ton-216437

Saying that, this particular screenshot claims he's 5"11. Wikipedia claims he's 6"2.  . I still think the stats on this screenshot are a good guide though.

People often upload FM stats of players when we sign them in real life. It irritates me when people say "It's just a game". It's not. It's one of the world's largest scouting networks and whilst not gospel, offers a good insight when we don't know too much else.

Still a game though.

A lot of research went into Civilisation and it's still a game.

Spacey, reading up on Wiki about ancient civilisations is just a touch different to scouting footballers.

Sod it, why do I even bother.

Yes, but sadly by people who are often biased. That's one reason why you'll play and find Plymouth Argyle or someone similar storming the league, because their team is stupidly overrated.

I think it could be useful to give people a "heads up", as the horrible expression goes, on players who might not be on the radar yet, but any kind of close comparison is nonsense.

Mind you, what did happen to Tonton Moukoko?

Cherno Samba

It's a useful scouting tool though, given that it's a worldwide database of footballers. Know for a fact that Moyes has signed at least one player on the back of Football Manager. Don't know how useful Khumalo's profile is to any of us but presumably McDermott will know a bit more about him.

He's actually a decent player in the game :?

Yer I agree that it can be a good tool and a lot of players who were good on FM have now turned out to be real decent players- take Jack Wilshere for example. Having said that, I led Reading to the Premiership title in 2016 and have signed Sergio Aguero for £45mil. What's the reason I was so successful?.....Madejski sold the club to a new (obviously non-existent) owner!
