The Royal Forester I have been listening to BBC Berks. audio commentaries since before Tim started doing them. The last few years on Ifollow/Royals TV and al I can say about todays is that is the most dire I have endured. Silence at half time, couldn't wait to get away after the match. No discussion or man of the match etc. The commentator said before closing the programme "Thanks foe watching", showed why. RC said he will improve Royals TV, pity he had to ruin the audio side of it to do so.

Agreed, the main commentator was ok, but the others were clueless. At least with the Beeb, you get people who know about what they’re talking about. The co-commentators were tosh. Rob, if you’re on here and reading, bring back BBC Berkshire

Once again, Phil got all the player’s names right. Which is an improvement on Dellor.

Supposedly going to lose 4-0 according to the experts on here and controlled much of the game with most of the possession. Not got our forward line set up yet and there's limited understanding, but we still hit the post twice, had a goal disallowed and a penalty turned down. Camara was better than expected. Lane looked promising. Kyerewaa raw but something about him. O'Mahoney works hard.

Defence was much improved on Pompey. Abrefa was a revelation. Stickland mostly comfortable, Burns vastly improved and Dorsett good. Jacob did ok, again big improvement on Pompey.

We went behind to a fluke, and then got suckered against the run of play. Always going to be tough up there, especially playing catch up.

Oh, and we have a functional club.

So yeah, lots of positives. The season isn’t one game long.

Who was the co-commentator?

Podcaster from The Tilehurst End, which is a really good touch from the club to involve the fans.

We expected a defeat and we got one, however it wasn't a thrashing and up until the second went in we were in the game and looked like we might have got something. Early days and will only get better.

Pereira - One magical save not to much to do.
Abrefa - So much better than the Pompey game. Deserves a run of games on that showing.
Stickland - Did ok and didn't look out of place, at fault for the second thought.
Burns - Really like the look of this guy, very neat on the ball and hopefully will make a great pairing with O'Connor
Dorsett - Did Ok, just don't think he's a LB, Jacob and Ryan should be ahead of him.
Wing - Again, did ok, on another day could of had to great goals, just don't like him playing that deep.
Savage - Such a great athlete, thought he had a chance in the second half for a screamer but decided to play out wide.
Elliot - Still getting back to fitness, but grew into the game and showed a few glimpses of his potential, will be a big player for us this season.
Camara - Still not a fan, he's tidy but so Meh!!!
Kelvin.E - A real mixed bag, typical Kelvin. So dangerous at times yet so disappointing other times.
O'Mahoney - Feel sorry for the guy, has literally had no service since he came here.

Subs:

Jacob - Didn't do anything wrong and should start next week.
Fraser - Looked solid and will add much needed bite to the midfield. Needs to take Wings spot so Wing can move forward.
Kyerewaa - Didn't do much but has a bit of pace, and pace can scare defenses.
Lane - The right midfielder we've been missing! Will be dangerous once he's settled in.

JJ said to expect 4 or 5 new players soon. Devante Cole and Matt Ritchie look like being two of them, would like another left midfielder and a attacking central midfielder please and we should be ok.

Not unexpected, Reading have a miserable opening day record and this one was never going to really deviate esp. given Lincoln are ace at sihthousery. Looked good in spells but were pretty ropey for periods as well. Could have got something if the ref could spot a penalty and if the luck was in but sadly neither turned up. I know it’s early days but I do hope Mahoney offers more than that and I still think Camara has a way to go.

Note to Noel. Stop playing a high line when you haven’t got any pace in defence.

Toothless upfront, MoM Jacob’s Stickland and DW look dogshit. Far too much hoof ball completely bypassing our main asset - our centre midfield. We can’t continue to play a high line with a slow as shit back 4. They got in so many time over the top because of it. Poor tactics from Noel unfortunately. Love the guy have backed him completely but today he got it wrong.

Nope, it’s ok to say ‘fine with that’ after a 2-0 defeat if we lose to someone like city in the cup and don’t get destroyed. It not ‘fine’ to lose 2-0 away from home against Lincoln on opening day. :|

Felt like a 5/10 performance and yet we could have got something out of it. Need someone with an x factor. Could be Elliott, but needs longer to get over his injury.

Not too worried yet, trust Carey to do what he needs to do in the transfer market.

I agree - 1st 20 mins were a bit aimless, but once we started to compete with their physicality we looked decent enough on the ball and played the better football.

Plenty to build on.

More than a 5 for me, I`d give it a 7/10, I didn`t see too much of this hoofball that`s being touted about, I thought we played some decent stuff up to their area where we didn`t create chances. felt very sorry for the new CF, he was living off scraps.
Hopefully the promise of new players will come to fruition very soon, we`re not far away from being a decent side.
