SLAMMED
Jackson Corner I was worried we might crash down to earth with a bang. Bit of a patched up team but a great 3 points. And a couple of weeks to get our injured players back for the final push.

Just hope the rest doesn't break our momentum.

It could, but it's also a great break for patching up our wounded

^ This.

Considering we've had 10 games in 5 weeks (2 of which were against PL opposition), 2 weeks without a game has come at just the right time, IMO.

Match day 1 at home to Scunthorpe shows that there are no ' it's only's ' even more so at this stage of the season.

If results had not gone our way on Saturday we could have been going into the international break 9 points off the playoffs and in 12th place, season over.

As we stand now we have great momentum to push on to the end of the season and hopefully get half our team off the treatment table.

In context, without doubt the result of the season so far, let's hope for many more in the next 12 games.

Platypuss Surely how much injuries are a problem depends on the relative depth of the squads? I'd be very surprised if our wage bill wasn't a hell of a lot higher than Barnsley's.

Look, coming on this board with common sense statements expressed in perfectly grammatical English will get you nowhere. :)

A good win, but far from the best win. Best win of the season was at Leicester when we were so short of cover at the back that Mills played on throughout despite going down three or four times (and popped up with the winner), and we played the then written-off Shaun Cummings at left back. No cover on the bench whatsoever defensively.

Just great to still have that buzz of expectation for the rest of the season. So many games now where we will be challenging for the playoffs as well as possibly sending sides down. It may not be a happy Easter for the Blades!

We had considerably more first choice players out last Saturday though.

What the same Reading who are FA Cup quarter finalists, two seasons in succession, recent Premiership experience and pushing hard for a play-off place who play at the majestic Madejski Stadium?

13 years is quite a long time ago, certainly in football. Look how far we've gone in that time, it was the season we were relegated to what's now League One.

We had considerably fewer key first team players to choose from though. I had no real worries about Barnsley. At Leicester though, people I was with will tell you that I was doing absolutely everything in my uninfluential power to get us a result. Remember we started with a defence of Gunnarsson RB, Mills CB, PearceCB and Cummings LB. We finished up with McAnuff RB, a half fit Mills CB, Pearce CB and Cummings LB. We had absolutely no cover defensively on the bench, and we ended up losing Gunnarsson at half time. In contrast the Barnsley game we had Pearce on the bench. And don't forget that Leicester City are a significantly better team than Barnsley.

You write as if they will be spending two weeks lying on the treatment bench. Some will be quite busy. What if Long gets crocked in the internationals?

All true apart from the Leicester bit. I thought they were virtually bottom when they played us.

They had a fairly shoddy start under Sousa, but they obviously aren't bad players to play against. We were on the ropes for periods there. Not once were we under any real pressure against Barnsley.

10 shots on target and 5 off
