I'm not sure it does as much as people on here desperately want it to.

Earnshaw has been on leave. This ain't North Korea, everyone is entitled to a holiday. Lewis Coombes did an interview on BBC South Today with Couhig a few days ago. I admittedly don't know for sure, but I assume TV takes precedence over radio, so Coombes would get the exclusive. Despite their poor coverage of RFC over the last couple of months, even Meridian had him on last night, too,

Well, if you put the respective track records over the past year in the spotlight, he absolutely does piss on local journalists. If a vlogger based in Bournemouth who runs a vlog about AFC Bournemouth can get multiple interviews with Rob Couhig, you have to ask what the local media (print, radio, online and TV) are doing.

Couhig contradicted himself when he said he wants to keep cat 1 but also said Brentford and Wycombe can bring good young players into their first team squad without an academy.

I wonder which opinion he actually holds.

Fascinated to see how he thinks he can develop radio and tv outlets. Is there much demand outside the UK for audio streams of League one football. Is there media demand for yet another netflix documentary in the US for lower EFL team. Maybe.

I do like the guys can do attitude, and I've always thought the links between extremely big companies in Berkshire should have more of a commercial role so that's an encouraging outlet.

Good luck to him.

Wasn’t there a derogatory comment from Couhig a few weeks ago that sounded as if was directed at Tim Dellor? It really is an indictment of Dellor and Williams that they’ve not had a peep out of a seemingly media-friendly new owner…

I definitely wouldn't miss the current BBCRB team if Couhig decided to bring match day commentary in-house, they're well past their sell by date.

blueroyals Now those “legal technicalities” make a lot more sense

Completion meant:

Redwood Stadium had to purchase the SCL from Prestige Fortune Asia, a deal requiring specialist counsel in its own right (BVI domiciled company)

Redwood Investments had to purchase c. £200m worth of debt from Renhe Sports Management or its ultimate parent company Great Shine International Ltd (Hong Kong domiciled company) I can’t remember exactly where the debt sat

Redwood Holdings 1 had to purchase the shares for The Reading Football Club Ltd and RFC Bearwood Ltd from the holding company Renhe Sports Management

No doubt there was good reason (probably timings) for structuring the deal like this. I should think there’s value in rationalising the structure and repatriating assets in the years to come to make the club easier to sell in the future.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I really don't understand is debt. My simplistic thought was RC gives DY £25m
> DY goes to the casino to try and recover the £200m or so he blew over his tenure, loses it all ands up living in doorways in Beijing bottle in hand.
> RC I would have thought simplistically paid £25m and now owns all the shares so really dont undrstand what debt is ?

RC now owns everything and his bank balance is £25m lighter. His basic financial goal from day 1 is for incoming ££s equal outgoing ££s so he doesn't have to dip back again into his wallet, though he will do when necessary ? If he does say by £5m in year one his cost is now £30m

I guess Dogwood having a debt company (with I would assume initial £25m debt) is so RC purchase cost is not lost in the ether - its there for him to get back his purchase price plus whatever he makes when selling the club eg sells club for £10 m - buyer has to pay £35m all in?

Is RC in essence borrowing ££ then lending the money so club can be purchased ?

Also can't understand at all where the £90m figure comes from.

Surely some of the accountants on here can enlighten us ?

.

That's not a contradiction, it's an acknowledgement there's more than one approach to bringing through young players, so if we do eventually have to scrap/downgrade the Academy, it's sad but not necessarily the end of bringing through youth talent.

Yeh that bit of the interview was Couhig being cagey.

There was £200m of debt to previous owner. Couhig said he bought that debt. So Dai Yonge is now owed nothing, all that debt is owed to Couhig.

Couhig can more or less call that number whatever he likes. He has chosen that debt to be £90m by the sounds of it. That means at some point in the future. Couhig could pay off that debt, (because he owns the other company he'd be paying off himself), without it counting as dividend income or interest income, both of which would be taxable.

It's tax efficient to be in debt because you can deduct interest payments against profits, and its tax efficient for Couhig to be able to extract cash out of the club at some point in the future via the repayment of loans, rather than as a capital gain.

Ok, he was - unprompted - floating the idea that clubs don't need academies in answer to a question about what his plans were for the academy.

Something obvious that people need to hear. There's a reason no longstanding L1 clubs have Cat 1 Academies.

Based on absolutely nothing at all, I wouldn't be surprised.

I think Dellor did have a dig at me after my first video with Rob. So I spoke with Rob on the Thursday and Dellor did a show on the Friday. During that show he said that "12 million had been put in the escrow account".

Rob told us he wasn't looking at this till until the weekend. So I messaged Tim and asked if his source was right. After all why wouldn't the man who had to agree to it know before Tim?

Next thing in an interval Tim made a remark that it was a source and some people think they know everything.

I was only trying to help him. Thought he was arrogant before, it's now confirmed. And it wouldn't surprise me if Rob is aware of the company line he's been repeating from the club or from sources which have been proven incorrect.
