East Grinstead Royal Wasn’t there a derogatory comment from Couhig a few weeks ago that sounded as if was directed at Tim Dellor? It really is an indictment of Dellor and Williams that they’ve not had a peep out of a seemingly media-friendly new owner…

blueroyals Now those “legal technicalities” make a lot more sense
Completion meant:
Redwood Stadium had to purchase the SCL from Prestige Fortune Asia, a deal requiring specialist counsel in its own right (BVI domiciled company)
Redwood Investments had to purchase c. £200m worth of debt from Renhe Sports Management or its ultimate parent company Great Shine International Ltd (Hong Kong domiciled company) I can’t remember exactly where the debt sat
Redwood Holdings 1 had to purchase the shares for The Reading Football Club Ltd and RFC Bearwood Ltd from the holding company Renhe Sports Management
No doubt there was good reason (probably timings) for structuring the deal like this. I should think there’s value in rationalising the structure and repatriating assets in the years to come to make the club easier to sell in the future.

Greatwesternline Couhig contradicted himself when he said he wants to keep cat 1 but also said Brentford and Wycombe can bring good young players into their first team squad without an academy.
I wonder which opinion he actually holds.

What I really don't understand is debt. My simplistic thought was RC gives DY £25m
> DY goes to the casino to try and recover the £200m or so he blew over his tenure, loses it all ands up living in doorways in Beijing bottle in hand.
> RC I would have thought simplistically paid £25m and now owns all the shares so really dont undrstand what debt is ?
RC now owns everything and his bank balance is £25m lighter. His basic financial goal from day 1 is for incoming ££s equal outgoing ££s so he doesn't have to dip back again into his wallet, though he will do when necessary ? If he does say by £5m in year one his cost is now £30m
I guess Dogwood having a debt company (with I would assume initial £25m debt) is so RC purchase cost is not lost in the ether - its there for him to get back his purchase price plus whatever he makes when selling the club eg sells club for £10 m - buyer has to pay £35m all in?
Is RC in essence borrowing ££ then lending the money so club can be purchased ?
Also can't understand at all where the £90m figure comes from.
Surely some of the accountants on here can enlighten us ?

That's not a contradiction, it's an acknowledgement there's more than one approach to bringing through young players, so if we do eventually have to scrap/downgrade the Academy, it's sad but not necessarily the end of bringing through youth talent.

Ok, he was - unprompted - floating the idea that clubs don't need academies in answer to a question about what his plans were for the academy.
