Hugo Boss So, a great result last night as we're all agreed... But WTF is Jimmy Kebe all about??

All he did last night was pussy-foot around, running it into touch when under no pressure and then when he did have a chance to kill the game off after we went 2-1 up, he somehow ends up turning back on himself and giving the ball away.

Absolute waste of space. Wants shooting.

misunderstood footballing genius

im not quite sure why he was rolling about on the floor in the dying seconds of the game......but apart from that i thought he was ok. i just found it funny the minute he did the slightest thing wrong last night he just got abuse. come on guys, he wasnt that bad!

Maguire Thought Kebe worked pretty hard last night, compared to usual at least. Can't believe he didn't pull the trigger at the end there - even Shane Long would've done better with that.

He started bad, then got confidence and then it went again.

He even tackled back in 2nd half of extra time.

I think we actually improved when Cisse was subbed.

A bit. Cisse's clumsy and rarely keeps the ball but he did keep Liverpool's midfield on their toes.

Cisse was guilty of giving the ball away more than any other Reading player and we did improve when he went off. I was screaming for us to hold the ball more.

As for Kebe, even given that magnificent team performance and result, he was complete and utter pony.

Personally i thought Mills was our worse distributor last night........gave the ball away too much, didn't clear his lines well enough, didn't put his foot through the ball into row z (infact the ball failed to go out of play) and they nearly scored from it.

I thought his over all play was ok. He was getting back to help to defense. But you're right this play in the box was pretty bad - he just danced around. He should have crossed it to wide open player on the other side of the box. Instead he just pissed the ball out of play.

Mills had his best game in a Reading shirt last night. He blocked a number of chances with quick thinking.

Sure he got a couple of clearances a bit wrong, but he more than made up with it with his all round game. Well, I thought.

Massive improvement over Pearce at least.

I thought he was really poor first half, but got better as the game went on. The foul for his yellow card was ridiculously stupid and pointless.

Kebe lacks mental toughness. He is weak and bottles it when we have to defend.

Thought Mills was great and he will only get better. Ingi looks good alongside him. As for Pearce, I would rather play the following object than him. It's quicker:

Whilst I don't rate Pearce that low, I think he has the same basic attributes as Ingimarsson without the experience... Mills is definitely preferred to him for now.

With regards to Kebe, yeh you only really want him when you are on top in the game.

Kebe's major weakness is decision making - put him in a position where he has to cross or has to shoot and he's ok - the problem come when he has more than one option, his indecision is lethal.

I like Cisse, but he's always rushed when he gets possession, and as far as I can tell he always always tries to pass forwards.

I'm sorry but I think Kebe's ok. I admit that he's too inconsistent but that's true of most wingers and I certainly don't think he played badly last night. For me the occasional moments of comedy genius just make me warm to him more.

I've followed Reading for 25 years and can count on one hand the number of decent right wingers we've had in that time - Kebe's no Glen Little but then he's no Harold Meaker either.

Comfortably Numb
Thaumagurist* Cisse was worse, he kept giving the ball back to the opposition.

Just.. what? Cisse was solid last night.

A number of times he gave the ball away in dangerous areas, and had Liverpool been a decent team we'd have been punished. Remember him doing something similar at Birmingham last year.

Very frustrating, he'd be a world beater if he could pass.

Kebe is useless at this level, nothing will change that - that said perhaps someone sitting him down with Michael Gilkes for a few weeks might rescue him if he listens.

God how boring the "lets slag off Kebe no matter what he does" brigade are.

He was fairly tidy yesterday, messed up that chance like we all knew he would, did a couple of good things, won a few headers, and as usual, was no way as bad as people suggest.

That run where he ended up in touch started pretty well, he just ran out of pitch.

He's no great shakes, if he was he'd be at a better club, but he's not half as bad as folk make out here.
