Snowball It was a red card offence

iss jest apinyun innit?

Yes and the opinion of those whose job it is to review these things decided it was not worthy of a red card. Seems a fair judge to me.

Given how infrequently decisions seem to get overturned they must have been damn sure it wasn't a red card - and quite possibly with the ref who gave it's agreement following him seeing footage of it.

Absolute rubbish, snowball knows more than the disciplinary and appeals panel.

Stats incoming to back that up...

I am completely aware that the red was overturned

I am completely aware that this is an unusual occurrence

I am also aware that Holt jumps in two-footed, and IMO should have been sent off even if he missed Harte altogether

It's not the RESULT that the point, it's the reckless or deliberate foul play.

Snowball The Bloke is a thug

What does that make Shane Long then, sent off twice last season for 'rash' challenges?

Holt is a physical player, always has been. His challenge on Harte was late, but replays suggest probably deserving of no more than a booking. Certainly a 'thug' wouldn't have been pulling out of the challenge like Holt was.

I see the evening shift and his sister have arrived... Simple question. Do you now think Shane Long is a THUG, that his challenges last season were deliberate attempts to hurt the opposition?

And notice, it took Shane Long until his 22nd appearance this season to get a yellow, for hand-ball. Some "thug"

202 Fouls 14 Yellows 2 Reds 2005-2010 Long
466 Fouls 43 Yellows 3 Reds 2005-2010 Holt

Grant Holt has also made around 200 league starts in that period. Shane hasn't even made 100.
And as for long, the challenge at Derby was a retaliation and frustration at not being given a free kick. He had only one intention on his mind and that was to take the player out. I think he even apologised for it afterwards.

IIRC, the other red was against West Brom and was even more idiotic.

Iirc, the one against West Brom saw him launch himself two footed at the defender, catching him halfway up the shin. I've no doubt he was after the ball, but it was rash and idiotic. I don't remember there being any 'previous' in that instance, it was just a late challenge.

That said, no, I don't think Long is a thug at all, Snowball, and I never implied he was.

I was asking you, if your definition of a 'thug' is Holt, with one debatable red for a challenge on Harte, and another for pulling Sammy Igoe's shirt, what that made a player with two red cards last season for reckless and high challenges. It's a reasonable question. Surely you wouldn't be terming Holt a thug purely based on his number of cautions the cause of which you presumably don't know?

Holt is a big, physical player, he puts himself around a bit and collects bookings, like a lot of other big, physical players. Kevin Davies another example. A tough player, sure, a thug, no.

Long has cleaned up his act, quite obviously, probably because he's older and now a family man.

Holt's cards just keep coming

It has. I have a cine-8 of him aged 18 months.

He was a fantastic dribbler but no power in his shot
