Being selected as ClubCaptain has nothing to do with always being the best player on the pitch, or playing in a particular position or appearing in X number of games, it's to do with motivating, encouraging, being seen and heard, being never say die, commending respect, offering leadership when its needed etc etc. I'm not sure I can frequently detect any of that from McAnuff. He appears to be one of the first to go missing when the chips are down. Being the most vociferous when we score I'm afraid doesn't count. Mind you in saying all off the top of my head I can't think of who of the current crop what be any better.

TheSiege I do not doubt BMcD's decision on picking Jobi from our 25 but, with the way the team is playing - particularly when trying to keep a lead, I wonder whether we should be looking at a potential captain in the January Window? Other threads are interested in players who may come or leave in January but, I wonder whether we need a real out-and-out General to keep us up. He would need to be Prem quality but, as an aside, we would not have a problem playing Kebe amd McCleary at the same time. A Captain ought to be mostly ever-present and I'm not sure that any of our wingers are in that category.

pack your bags

Given you aren't on the pitch, in the dressing room or on the training field, I reckon your opinion of whether he motivates, encourages, is seen and heard, commands respect and offers leadership to his team mates is basically worthless.

Samrfc01 McAnuff for the rest of the season.

Pearce to take over next season, providing he's made the step up.

Agree with this.
