sandman You all need to calm down and remember that "we've had a good workout".

P!ssed Off Bring in Kelly, Gorkss and Mariappa for Peterborough in the cup.
Tell them if they keep a clean sheet they keep their place in the team.

Pearce, Morrision and Gunter should get the message that if they can't keep a clean sheet then they can sit on the bench.

Why have you not been offered a managerial role mate? and what about Bridge? it was partially his fault for the goal today

Yeah  at changing the defence after four poor displays in a row.

We have no back up left back, it is not an option to drop Bridge.

What I am saying is putting in a new defence for a pretty meaningless game away at a lower league opposition is going to prove nothing.

Readingensian Just the 94 goals left to secure promotion then Nigel. That's only 2.24 goals per game. The answer is quite simple... ALFIE>>>BLACKMAN.

And please spare me the notion that we're looking at bringing a couple of lads in next week. We won't be spending anything like enough money to secure promotion. We'll aim to do it on the cheap again, and you sir will look a mug come the summer after your pre-season hype.

Doing it on the cheap seemed to work out okay last time we were in the Championship.

Yeah but how did we do in the Prem when we got there

Newsflash - starting badly is the Reading way!

Why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist? Far far too early. I think we'll see a more settled side once the window closes anyway.

Oh do shut up. I suggest you wander over to the Club Policies area & see in black & white how much money we're spending. We're right up there at the top.

How much money should we be spending then? You are aware of financial fair play aren't you?

Barry the bird boggler From what I've heard we created absolutely nothing today so what would a new striker have done anyway?

Also when was the last time kept a clean sheet away from home in the league

A half decent striker should be able to create something for himself.

Not one of our strikers can link play, drop shot and interchange with the midfield.

As it stands they are the 2nd highest rated team below our division. If they play their best team against us then it will most likely be a competitive match.
Certainly won't be a meaningless game if we use it to give an opportunity to our defenders that have so far not got a chance, and show the current defenders that 0 clean sheets out of 4 is unacceptable.

Yes it did, but fook knows how. A great team spirit and superior fitness seemed to get us past the post in what was probably the least probable promotion in the history of probability!

I can take getting beat, our first of the season and I expect a few more along the way. However, I long for the days of going about our business in an understated fashion of manager's of old (Coppell and McDermott). Don't spout your mouth of pre-season promising us the world when all you give us is ninety minutes of Nick Blackman.

Any one who is questioning our new style saying it's not effective. Please jump off a tall building and make sure your head smashes the concrete first.

This is a long term change and the players we have are still under the Brian regime. I'd happily not get promoted and spend a couple seasons in the champ to establish a style that will eventually be more accustomed to the PL.

Yes, am very aware of FFF thank you. However, are we not exempt from such rules this season as we have a year of grace as sorts to get our house in order? Should we not be using this to our advantage to invest in long term, sensible targets? If you really feel the investment in Drenthe, Williams and Bridge (who, for the record I feel are all decent signings) will suffice then that's your opinion. The squad was not good enough last year and I fear we are lacking quality again this time around.

I'm not asking for Anton to dig deep, just to deliver on the hype delivered at the time of his arrival.

We're waiting Anton!

Readingensian - You're brushing over the fact that quite a lot of our players are on bumper money these days - Pearce, Kebe, HRK, Pog, McAnuff, Drenthe, Williams, Bridge, McCarthy, Roberts, Mariappa to name a few.

We've not sold anyone & had the annual summer sale. We are spending more money than ever from what I can see.

Well, it did work because we got promoted playing that direct style.

A few seasons to establish this style? By that time the best players would have moved on and we'll be heading to League One.
