cmonurz I’d like to see Nigel Howe’s business plan for becoming ‘the next Arsenal’.

Buy cheap, fast Africans and pray that they come good?

Success rate so far = 0

Buy ball playing east Europeans a la Hleb and Rosicky?

All we need to do is dreadlock Kits and black face him and we have our own Adebayor. And I'd willingly break Long or Doyle's leg.

It's all spin and PR. I don't think you can take anything seriously when it comes out of a club employee's mouth.

We've been lied to and misled from the day we won promotion, unfortunately it's just par for the course in modern day football.

Go on then. Give us a few concrete examples of lies that have emanated from the club.

To be honest I can't be bothered to, others have suggested a few already.

Here's a bit more of Coppell's quote from todays Post though

"He's a different training to how he was just before he went on loan. There's a visable change in mentality since he came back. He has got the bit between his teeth..."

Compare that to the quotes around the time he left and when he wasn't in the squad and Coppell was saying how he was still working hard in training and no problem etc etc.

And both of those could be true.

Before he went on loan Coppell said how Lita couldn't see a way in to the first team but now that attitude has gone. Also he could have been training well before he went but now he is training even harder.

Maybe it is all spin, but on the other hand that is just your opinion.

Call it lies if you like, but he was hardly likely to say "he's been rubbish in training and despite all my efforts to get him straight he just isn't prepared to fight for his place as I would have hoped from a professional footballer on £20k pw (whatever) so I don't want him here until he's sorted himself out" was he?

Coppell admitted to fibbing about the extent of Sonko's injury.

I think he said John Halls was a good player too.

Of course not, I not that stupid!

It would be nice if we didn't have to have so many 'white lies' or soundbites thrown our way though, especially when a lot of people actually believe all this PR that's fed to us.

Wycombe, your right there could be all sorts of intricate details that mean they're not lies, but in reality the truth is, only in my opinion of course, that Lita was being a pain/slacking off because he was totally dejected and Coppell told a little fib in saying there was nothing wrong with him in training.

I've had a trawl back through the official site and the most in depth interview I can find from Coppell on Lita is this one. I have skim-read it and I can't see where he says how well Lita was trining before he went, he just gives an insight into his metality before he went. If you can find an onterview that says otherwise then post it here.

He said it on more than one occassion on the Radio when asked.

I'm sure there are probably old articles from the Post online too but I've not got the time or the inlination to go and look this afternoon. If you don't believe me that Coppell and Dillion both commented a number of times on how well Lita had been training thats fine, I won't lose any sleep over it.

Well, actually, you haven't given what I suggested - concrete examples. What you have done is cited your view that things aren't quite what you wanted. Not really the same thing is it?

Hammond did say prio to the January Transfer window that they were looking to buy 3 players with Premiership experience in January to help take the club to the next level. Did we sign them or am I missing something?

Yes but that's not a lie is it?

Looking to buy 3 players with Premiership experience and succeeding are two different things.

You could even argue (if you want to put a major spin on it) that he was talking about players already at the club signing new contracts.

No, but he didn't need to talk about his attitude at all did he? He could have concentrated on the fact that Lita needed first team football to sharpen him up, that he (Coppell) wanted to stick with Doyle/Kitson as first choice starters and therefore it was best if Lita went to Charlton for a short loan period.

The club are effing useless at spin and even worse when it comes to telling lies!

Not one of them would qualify as a modern British politician!

Shall we take that as a climbdown then?

It's actually nonsense and insulting to suggest that RFC have lied to their fans. In JM and SC we probably have the Chairman and Manager with the highest integrity level of any in the PL. For sure, statements of intention have been made and not followed through for a whole variety of reasons, but that is very far removed from blatant lying which is what you said they were guilty of.

Unlike most people in the public eye, (certainly in your e.g. of politicians!) Coppell actually tries to answer the questions put to him even if the answers are a little guarded. he rarely avoids one altogether.

I wish that they had lied. At least then I could feel anger at the current situation rather than simply feeling resigned.

And the next level would be the Championship would it?

Not sure if you can call it lies but SC has been responsible for some top faffing this season! I have faith in the team, I need to replace 3 or four, I have faith, I could rightly drop the whole side etc followed by: "the players have to keep faith in what I am doing over the next 3 games" laughable if it wasn't so sad!
