Schards#2 Madejski deserves total respect for what he did from the moment he took over until about a year ago.
Since then, he's made it clear he wants out and his runnng of the club has reflected that. The suporters don't want out, they are still investing in the club season in and season out and rightly feel insulted by being asked by Madejski to up their game.
He been a hero of this club but Steve Bull is a Wolves legend and they don't play him up front any more.
What a disappointing post this turned out to be after such an informed start.
You lavishly spend either £600 on a season ticket or £20 per week to watch football. What kind of investment is that?
How many units do you get for your money?
You choose to spend rediculous amounts of money watching 22 lads kick a bag of air around, and you think this ranks as an investment?
Did you EVER realise that when you buy a meal in your favourite restaurant you are also flambuoyantly (in some eyes) doing the same as paying to watch football?
You don't become a qualified stakeholder in Wetherspoons because you paid £5.99 for the Burger and a pint meal deal. Similarly, you don't have a say in whether or not they paint the toilets sky blue pink; decide to exclusively sell only Greek food, or insist on shifting happy hour from 3pm to 4pm.
The difference is that you can complain. If there is no change, you can vote with your wallett and eat elsewhere. The exclusivity of your choice in football club does not entitle you to anything other than the standard of football you decide to pay for week in week out.
As 16,000 odd Reading fans turned up on Saturday, and saw us win in entertaining style, I am guessing that there aren't so many disenfranchised (sp?) supporters out there that are prepared to vote with their wallett.
Perhaps his request that we up our game was a little twee in some eyes, but sod it, when the bloke stood up in front of the same fans 12 months ago he was treated like a king, and not much in the way he practices has changed at all.
Oops, sorry, it did change a bit, he threw £3.5 million at a duff player which so far has bitten him in the arse.
How fickle can some people be?
12 months ago he was a king, just remember that.
RL - thanks for reading as my posting has been so sub standard lately.
