Libertine I voted "1 signing" in the poll...so close to being right. I am glad I had to work today and didn't waste 10 or so hours getting frustrated. Nice window QPR had though. Maybe one day we'll be saying that about Reading... :|

Its got to change surely

Maybe in a different lifetime. The thing that annoyed me is the statements multiple officials of the team made assuring the fans that by the end of the window we would be bringing players in. If they hadn't made those statements this time I would have taken the team doing nothing in stride, it would have been expected business as usual. I guess we better hope we have players lined-up to bring in on loan. Because up front, outside of the very open Watford game, we have looked League 2 quality so far.

The silence from the club is pretty pitiful, TBH.

No announcements may not mean no new signings, you can always live in hope.

What are the chances of RFC calling a press conference today?

Perhaps I am being optimistic but I cannot help feeling that Anton is having some fun with us. Absolute silence from the club and then suddenly at midday they will announce that we actually completed Sissoko, a top striker, a left back and a centre back. Everyone on here will turn from misery to joy instantly.

Failing that this transfer window has been a f****** disgrace and I can only think Hammond will have a tough day trolling through recycle looking for old and broken out of contract players that we can offer a 3 month contact to just make up the numbers.

Time will tell.

The lack of news and noises is a little odd, and we certainly need to still add to this squad to compete at the top end of the division.

Despite the lack of news I'm still reasonably confident that they'll be some good news and there will be some incoming transfers, either free agents or loans that will strengthen the squad.

If we don't then we've left ourselves light again.

Zero was the correct answer - around 50% of us foresaw that then!

Nonsense, we're playing an attractive passing game that will stand us in good stead when we gain promotion to the PL. (If I read it enough times on here I might even start to believe it myself.)

Man Friday Nonsense, we're playing an attractive passing game that will stand us in good stead when we gain promotion to the PL. (If I read it enough times on here I might even start to believe it myself.)

We were not talking about the results on the pitch. We were just talking about having a note/newsworthy end of the transfer window, especially, and in this case, where there were needs to be addressed. And not saying that we need to spend outrageous sums of money doing it either. I would like to think we would all want the team to take some kind of decisive action to bring players in to try to improve the team, even if the move doesn't work out in the end, if there is improving required at any given position. They should not always be expected to "get it right" (Carrico is the latest example of that) but I think they should at least give it a try and make sure they get a player, or players, in.

I like the style we're playing and I still fully support NA. All I want is for the team to be successful and what I (and some of us) feel is that players need to be brought in who can play the style he wants the team to play, specifically upfront where we have been only marginally (at best) effective. He said some overly optimistic stuff preseason, and this is going to be a longer rebuild than, I guess, he expected. But I fully support the continued effort and do think he can get us back up relatively quickly, if not this year (I am in no way writing off the season yet, players can still be brought in from a much more limited pool).

But no one at all was brought in to address those issues on the bi-yearly "window closing day". Which is very typical for Reading FC at the end of almost every window. That is why I quipped "maybe in a different lifetime". If it happens it will be a novel experience...
