A new deal means it's with us ... otherwise it would just be he's signed a contract.

As the early part of the Summer Transfer Window opens today, when do we think details of contract renewals will be made public? (It has been reported exclusively on Hobnob that both Wareham and Pereira have renewed)

Also is there any news about potential transfer targets coming in now the Window is officially open?

I wouod think we'll hear next week of those that have signed. And new signings will take longer, partly because we'll need to know who is staying in order to work out where we can spend our resources on new players...

For example we could really use a left back, but if Mbengue goes we need a CB much more, which means rebalancing the budget.

Plus players at other clubs will be on holiday and negotiations will likely take longer with them than our own players.

If I were out of contract but considering signing I’d leave it as late as possible up until pre-season to test my market. There’s not really any incentive for the likes of Pereira to sign early unless it looked like someone was going to get signed in your place.

The club could say "This offer is for (insert number) weeks only, if not signed by then, we say goodbye". Or, the club could sign your replacement without you knowing about it in advance.

Yes of course, but whilst you’re in high demand as Pereira and his associates know he is, there will be an open discourse and you will know you can bide your time.

The club won’t upset the negotiation with a stroppy deadline nor will they sign a lesser keeper when the Pereira deal is still on the table and the market hasn’t started moving.

I expect we'll see a few more renewing this week. If Brogue is right, Pereira is massive deal, and hopefully Mbengue follows. After those 2, the rest in negotiations will surely stay as I can't see them getting a better offer.

Not sure we can trust you these days

If this is true, and the tweet from Alec Lundberg suggests that it may well be, then this is fantastic news. There are not many better keepers in L1.

Is he really in that high demand. 28 years old and this was the first season he'd been a first choice and playing the majority of games. I'd say he's pretty much at the level he should be at now, can't see any higher level clubs coming in for him unless he's going as backup.

Yes - although the trend these days is to remove hyphens which makes no sense when you have confusion between resign and re-sign

Quite surprised by that. But a good opportunity for him. I’m sure we will replace him well.
