Just that whatever criticisms about Leroy might be valid, the assertion "give him time to think and he is little better than a Conference player" isn't a valid criticism as it also applies to many other successful strikers.

floyd__streete The thing with RR is that I genuinely rate him as one of the very best contributors on The Team and General Football forums

He does have a certain comic quality to him, i'll give him that.

IIIIIINNNN 1 - relentlessly slagging off Steve Coppell over the course of many months, saying he didn't have the ability or personality to take Reading anywhere but backwards. LOL

IIIIIINNNN 2 - relentless posturing about how "anyone with a brain" could see that Carrick should play instead of Hargreaves in the WC game against Portugal last summer. Hargreaves MOTM. LOL

IIIIINNNN 3 - relentless insistence that England's poor performances are down to the fact that the players aren't very bright. Presumably unlike great thinkers such as Ronaldinho. LOL

IIIIINNNN 4 - last but not least:

Having seen most of Reading's games this season I am now frustrated and bored of watching Lita. I actually think he works very hard, and is very strong for a small bloke, but if you analyse his performances they are identical every game.

He never looks like keeping possession for any more than a split second, he never looks like getting into a position where he can score, he makes some great leaps and wins headers he has no right to, but that's always in the middle of the park, he just is there, on the pitch, running about a lot, and that's all. Long causes far more problems for the defenders when he comes on.

At the start of the season I thought Lita was one who would do well in The Premiership and thought he would end up being the preferred partner for Doyle, and I still felt that last month, but now I've changed my mind, which doesn't happen very often. Premiership defenders ALL put him in their pocket and keep him there. Doyle is finding it hard as well, but always seems to create a chance or two no matter who he is up against.

I can't wait for Kitson to get back. All he needs is his fitness and he'll be in the team.

In the meantime, we have nothing to lose by starting a game with Long as he can't be less effective than Lita.

Still, I'd rather have the old boy here than not.

It is of course jolly nice to be remembered and (kind of) quoted.

The only one of those that was clearly wrong, and referred to by my good self many many times in my usual self-deprecating style that people conveniently forget, was the one about Coppell.

The thing is though that people remember what I say because I am truly worth reading, and more often than not am shown to be (for many) uncomfortably close to the truth when connected events have fully unfolded.

Do I ever say "I told you so"? No, I feel that would be conceited so I just carry on in my own quiet and dignified way, continuing to communicate my wisdom and insight on a level only a select few on here can appreciate.

Self-parody as well as self-deprecation. I like it.

So criticism is no longer valid if the same thing can be said about other players? I'm sorry but that's just utter nonsense. Funny though!

Anyway, it was good to see our best striker back in the groove today. Fantastic finish after a pretty poor 75 minutes from our forward line but at least it was untarnished by any embarrassingly piss-poor attempts to win free kicks and penalties.

Talal El 'death roll' Karkouri scored against the Blades today and I can see now the fcuking mess Leroy made of his face with the headbutt and understand the reason for the red card
