Isaac Hunt BR was on Talk Sport about 20 minutes ago - says the signing will be completed today.

Is that a BBC Radio thing? Or is there anyway to listen to the show again?

It's commercial radio so nothing to do with the BBC. Have a look http://www.talksport.net/

He also spoke about his choice of captain, to be announced to the squad on Thursday and made public after that. Said he liked the Terry/Lampard model of having a good vice captain for when the 1st choice isn't on the field (Gunnar / Pearce anyone?). How the club had developed over the 5 years he had been away (excellent training facilities), how 6 or 7 academy graduates will feature heavily in the first team squad this season....and how Bertrand is the next Ashley Cole.

Of more interest was that he mentioned that he's still trying to bring in 1 or 2 more players to add experience as we have a young squad.

Ok, hope this link works, it's now online http://www.talksport.net/mediaplayer/me ... ediaType=1

Do announcements on the site come before that, or will we only know at like 11 tomorrow?

Very interesting listening, cheers for that! BR sounds convinced that Matt Mills will sign today and is looking for a couple more players to further strengthen the squad. I also like the optimistic nature of the management and the team, all talking about challenging for the title rather than talking about consolidation. Let's hope they can back it up on the pitch.

I'll give you a summary.

Rodgers said :

- Good Pre-Season.
- Doyle will be a big miss.
- Bertrand will be a big Premiership player in the future. Next Ashley Cole.
- Signing Matt Mills. Big Signing. Sort of defender that Rodgers like.
- Rodgers has known Mills for a long time.
- 1 or 2 more signings to come.
- Tough start to the season.
- Praise for the club. Good training/stadium facilities.
- Need a good start to the season.
- New Captain this week.
- Kids coming through the Academy. Some of them will be involved in the squad this year.

Fantastic to hear him say that part of the attraction of coming here is that the club has been run on good, sound, solid business principles and that, as a result, it is a solid secure club, and all credit to the Chairman for that...

(Okay, he's hardly going to say that Madejski's a tight fisted git, but then he didn't have to say anything did he?)

I've heard that Rodgers and his staff have been impressed with our fitness too. When they joined Watford they found their fitness levels a joke compared to Chelsea's but apparently ours aren't far off the lovely Stamford Bridge lads.

Football: Reading look set to up their offer to more than £2m for Doncaster defender

READING’S signing of Doncaster defender Matt Mills has been put back due to last-minute hitch.
Royals hoped to unveil the 22-year old as manager Brendan Rodgers’ first transfer signing, and the player was at the Madejksi Stadium yesterday (Tuesday).
But director of football Nicky Hammond remains in talks and the club now hopes to be able to confirm the deal on Wednesday.
Nottingham Forest are believed to have upped their offer for the player to above the £2 million mark.

That's gotta be bollox surely, a price had already been agreed, the only snag would be if we couldn't agree personal terms.

If Forest came in with a higher bid then Donnie could decide they wanted to ask us to match it if the contracts hadn't been signed.
Morally dodgy perhaps, Leeds didn;t do it when Man CIty tried to gazump Villa on Delph but it's a lot of money for Donnie so you can;t blame them.

Assuming of course the Newbury Gazette are ITK....
