TedBundy89
Arnie_Pie Spoke to a few Newcastle reserve team players on the weekend. The talk on their training round is that he is going up there.

Why are they at the training ground? Surely it's the close season up there too?

Seemed genuine about it, all three of them, though I was pretty smashed so I have no idea what their names are!

I have been told from by a "close" source that he is heading to Newcastle.

My uncle works at the club shop. He says that Long will sign on Friday. :P

Anyone in the "Earley set" will know this "landscaper" as a good source

My sister's husband's cousin's wife's brother's friend's mother's aunt lives in Chester but she's never heard of Shane Long.

My Newcastle Supporting flatmate has just got off the phone with Kevin Nolan's aunt, he is having his medical at West Ham with Long and Shorey as we speak.

I've got no mates, but the voices in my head say he's going to Wolves.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has made Maccabi Petah Tikva striker Omer Damari his top summer target after conceding defeat in his attempt to sign Reading's Shane Long - and the Israeli is keen on the £2.5m switch. (News of the World)

FWIW... http://www.caughtoffside.com/2011/06/19/newcastle-united-plan-move-for-chelsea-youngster-as-board-look-to-youth/

Might mean that Newcastle oxf*rd off in the race to sign Long, although it is from caught offside so I doubt there is any truth in it whatsoever.

Newcastle United will this summer look to make a move for Chelsea youngster Daniel Sturridge as the club’s board continue to look to plan for the future. Alan Pardew has been promised funds, albeit limited, to help improve the St James’ Park squad and the Magpies will test the water with a move for the England Under 21 international.

Chelsea slapped a £20m fee on his head a couple of weeks ago. I can't see Newcastle paying that.

You could tie in Sturridge going to Newcastle means that they have given up on Long

Scottish Herald yesterday said Celtic were looking for someone
to be Hooper's partner, dropping Stokes who gets goals
but has other issues.

Hooper's record looks decent, but hard to imagine a swap without money. Would make no sense

I'd take Hooper + £1-£1.5m.

Hooper scores a LOT of goals at this level, would slot right into the team and allow Long to play at a *cough* higher *cough* level.

I'd be well chuffed with that. We're not going to see much if any of the Long money reinvested in a replacement, so this would be perfect for us and hopefully with a few quid as well.
