Funny all this talk of "worse performance since Brendan Rodgers"

Out of interest - how do you lot rate Brendan Rodgers against Terry Bullivant? Or Tommy Burns?

winchester_royal Don't you think we're overreacting a bit here lads?

This is, afterall, a team full of players that Adkins doesn't really r8.

Royal Rebel What are the odds on him being fired by Xmas ?

Brendan Rodgers wasn't given the transfer policy that he wanted because of Hammond, but that being said he really did have a terrible record here and, in my opinion, didn't play to the strengths that our side had then plus he tried to force a style they weren't comfortable with onto them. First glance it looks like Adkins is doing the same but the difference is all of this side are easily good enough to play a quick attacking game like he wants, it will just take time after being with Brian so long. Especially seeing as in the PL we completely lost all confidence to do anything other than long ball.

Rather be patient with Adkins than have another short term jolly with the likes of McDermott and end up back in the same place in 2 years.

Easier for me to say when I haven't spent time and money to see an abject performance but, appalling though the result was, there is no point in overreacting to it as many on here are.

This was a defeat in a competion we have no interest in having made 9 changes, which would have been 10 had Kelly been available. We then went on to make zero substitutions despite being overrun. This is not the result on which to base decisions about the direction of the club. A 1-0 defeat at Yeovil would be far more worrying.

At half time against Watford everyone was delighted with the way we were playing and we were looking at a decent start to the season against teams tipped for the top six. Since then, we have played about 225 minutes of football, you do not because a lost cause in that period of time. Adkins has a proven track record, man up and be patient.

Agreed. It would seem that many of our squad are struggling to come to terms with the loss of McDermott's friendly, family, team spirit gets you everywhere style.

Sebastian Followed by abject relegation.

I'd be delighted to focus on the positives, but thus far.................

but thus far we've drawn with two of our promotion candidates, beaten another team and performed - by the sound of it - in every game. Woeful, obviously. Seen so many calls on twitter for transfers now after last night but there's really no need, except for a reliable striker, because we've been playing well and this is just a completely bogey performance. Adkins is right, it's not acceptable but I seriously doubt he'll let it happen again.

Sebastian I'm more interested in getting people like Pog off the books, than gettin new players in.

Correct, that's the first stage.

They aren't his signings, it takes time.

For a while against Watford that was probably the best a Reading team has ever played.

He has some high earning dead wood which he clearly needs to get rid off which is proving difficult at the prices. (A mess left on him)

Watford are an in form team. Off the back of a great win and we made them look below average for a while

winchester_royal Genuinely scary how people think today's game is a complete indictment on Adkins' ability as a manager. Judge him on how we do in the league this season, not in pointless cup games in which our second string are playing.

Agree although that second string team as you call it, should be walking a cup game against Peterborough!! If they are not motivated to play a cup game midweek for a place in the 3rd round why not get rid of the players!! Ain't NA's fault!!

The only things I do not agree with NA for doing thus far this season is

1. Playing Gunter
2. Not carrying on with the diamond on consistent basis and allowing 2 upfront

You get a decent spin-off thread out of that.

I reckon either the 3-1 away win at Tranmere in the play-off semis or the New Year's Day demolition of West Ham.

Stolen this from twitter

Last night's 11. 6 BM signings. 1 BR, 1 SC 1 NA and 2 youth products. Can't point the finger at NA, he is as frustrated as us.
