I'm fine with this, much more the old school Reading signing (The Reading Way) and the guy is a speedy winger !! The guy must have something about him, and hopefully any new manager will be able to bring the best out of him.
Meite on the right and Barker on the left, with Joao hopefully the recipient in the middle!!

Have seen him a few times for Rangers and IIRC he is an industrious midfielder rather than a flying winger type such as Ryan Kent.
With Aaron Ramsey having signed they are quite overloaded in midfield so now surplus to requirements.

Obviously not what we expected but with TDB, Drinkwater and Halilovic not offering much and Ejaria endlessly ill/injured he might bring something to the team in terms of energy and commitment.

Presumably there is some link with Rangers ( Ejaria) and he would have been out of contract in the Summer so any addition is welcome

Is he our first Brandon?.

According to Transfermarkt, 80% of his apps are on the left wing. So appears to be a direct, pacy winger. Which we don't have. Could be a good option off the bench if a game is tight.

Rangers fans think he's tosh, and if you're tosh in a substandard league like that then he'll be garbage in the Championship. He might be useful in League One next season tho.

Rangers are better than us though so he might be good enough for us.

If it was that he flatters to deceive, is overrated and very rarely shows any brilliance they’d be spot on for me.

What pisses me off most about this isn't him, I'm all up for actual wingers (if he is one), it's that we actually got some sort of communication from Doyong Pang (or whomever that is) for this instead of other issues.

Oi, Pang-head. Noooo! If you want to talk to us fans tell us wtf is going on with what matters. I don't care about some random squad signing.

Reminds me a bit of the Popa signing a few years back.

Just when are we going to learn?

The same as ours. Can be great on his day but for the most part he goes missing and is a luxury.

In what way?

Popa we brought in as a complete unknown on a massive contract

This chap we’ve picked up for free and given him a few months on is suspect a small wage

Well quite, it is low cost, low risk signing of a type of player fans have called out for ages.

If he turns out to be decent he may sign a longer deal in the summer. If not, he joins the exodus.

As he only left Rangers a couple of weeks back, hopefully he's fit enough to be involved quickly.

Not saying he's going to propel us to the Premier League, but i much prefer these signings to messers Aluko, Barrow, Popa, Drenthe.

He is out of contract, he is therefore probably keen to get a one. He is likely to be more industrious, and try to impress.

At our level, a 5/10 player who cares is better than an 8/10 who doesnt care.

The sort of people who criticise this signing would never have signed Shorey, Doyle, Long, Kitson etc, and even to an extent Ian Harte as his career started to wain.

Cheap and cheerful signings either dont come off and were cheap, or do come off and were cheap.

For too long we've been doing signings that didnt come off, but were expensive.

Only problem with this signing is that:

a) it's not a position we lack depth
c) we should be very careful with signings because of our squad and financial limitations
b) it's clearly just a distraction from the manager question

Nothing to do with whether he's any good or not.

Snowflake Royal Only problem with this signing is that:

a) it's not a position we lack depth I think it is, tbh. We don't really have a pacey direct winger, apart from Meite and maybe Hoilett who are regularly available and have experience at this level. All the rest are inside forwards, such as Ovie, Ince and Hal
c) we should be very careful with signings because of our squad and financial limitations We would've had to get approval from EFL for this signing, so imagine that has been taken into consideration and he would be on a very small wage for a very small amount of time. Say he is on £5k/week, he is effectively on a 12 week contract, that is only a total of £60,000 - hardly going to break the bank.
b) it's clearly just a distraction from the manager question this is bollocks

Nothing to do with whether he's any good or not.

Agree with the red text above.

If he's got pace, is direct, and can cross a ball half decently while on the run, rather than stopping, checking back and waiting for the defenders to get set, he'll do for me.

Whether he adds a slightly different style or not isn't the question imo. We have Meite, Hoilett, Ince, Azeez, Camara and Ejaria already. Plus we just handed Abrefa a debut there.

Six / seven players for two positions isn’t a lack of squad depth.

It isn’t going to break the bank and we got approval. That doesn't make it a good use of resources. Not spending the money could be more valuable. Or spending it where we are stretched (fullback, striker, centreback) more appropriate.
