All this talk of Hunt's bad behaviour is fine - but how many yellow cards has this f*cking animal got this season?

Exactly. He's actually a very well behaved chap. So Maguire et al, you can go f*ck yourselves

 If a challenge is worthy of a yellow card it's worthy of a yellow card and I can't understand how pointing this fact out is so wrong that it requires so much vitriol.

Calm down Doris.

I'm talking about a certain perception around here about Hunt that Maguire in his usual tiresome attempts at being controversial typifies.

Frankly it's a oxf*rd c*ntish attitude towards a player who lets face it really doesnt let us down and gives everything but also has impressed this season by, well impressing this season.

I have to say I love Stephen Hunt. It was him and Doyle that kept battling out there when we were playing crap. In the end they were the deciding factors and good on them for it. I voted Shorey for player of the year but I almost voted Hunty - that just shows how far he's come...

True...

If people moaned everytime we had a YELLOW CARD, we'd be moaning all day.

Actually...

Maguire Why the fcuk did he go in on the Bolton keeper today? More stupidity from Mr Hunt.

Have to agree with that, he does himself no favours at all sometimes. I am getting somewhat concerned with the fact that opposition fans and players are looking out for him. I don't want a Robbie Savage pantomime villain type player amongst our ranks, that's not what we're all about.

However - his energy and enthusiasm is vital to what we are all about at this moment in time. He's been a key player this season having been a bit part last time out. He won't get my player of the season vote personally, but if there was a most improved player vote you'd be better off weighing his ballot papers. Top effort.

 Bellend

Having been involved in a hugely controversial incident earlier in the season (where, might I add, I didn't think he was at fault), is it so out of line to suggest that incidents like his embarrassing dive at Arsenal and the completely avoidable challenge yesterday might not be the smartest thing to do? As floyd says, we could do without him getting a Savage-esque reputation.

Also, I can't see how this viewpoint is me trying to me controversial. Go away and have a lie down Leon.

I just love how your just painting this as if we're moaning that he was given a yellow card, it's hilarious and a complete red herring.

Are we in some kind of time warp? Or has someone posted this entire thread from October? Woodcote Royal sums it up for me.

Woodcote Royal There are plenty of Reading supporters who never lived to see the last 2 fantastic seasons and we should count ourselves extremely fortunate to be apart of this amazing period in the clubs history.

For X's sake, let's get off these players' backs (Hunt, Hahnemann, Sidwell, Harper, Seol, Oster, Lita, Bikey, et al) and recognize the contribution they're making! Stop whingeing and enjoy the moment, it won't last forever!

I checked the online reports and no, there is no mention of Hunt's challenge on the keeper apart from on here.

Now there's a surprise.

All of the online reports mentioned that he played well and scored a goal though.

Oh well.

Sorry but if he runs into another player on the pitch and gets a yellow, why didn't two Bolton players get a yellow as well?

The Hunt thing was a real case of absolutely nothing. No one was hurt, no one was close to being hurt but it was a bit unnecessary and the card was fair enough.

What was annoying was after booking Shorey for a bit of holding (followed up by a regulation dive from Diouf) Webb let 2 bolotn players get away with far worse instances of holding (one on Gunnarsson was a rugby tackle which Gunnarsson had to wrestle off before carrying on !).

Hunt does need to be a little more sensible at time, but overall i thought he did a decent job yesterday

Because he ran into the keeper who had the ball in his hands. A challenge on the keeper like that is a yellow card no matter how you swing it.

Same thing happened to Solsjkaer at Old Trafford. Different circumstances same offense.

Yes but that's the whole point, Hunt is as mad as a box of frogs and he's all action.
You can't ask him to relax, he's a purely instinctive player.
He does need to calm down in certain occasions, but he's no liability and stays on the pitch, so all's good.

I was embarassed him feigning injury at Arsenal, but I'm sure he didn't feel too good about it either afterwards.

If he carried on doing that a la Savage, then yes, I would say that it's not on, but it was only the once and he's doing what he's good at, 100%, a pain in the backside for the opposition, and scoring.

Have you written other posts about other Reading players doing 'something stupid' and rightly being punished for it?

And there's me thinking that football was a game of mistakes.

Then why ask?

I'm not blind, I can see when players make mistakes and I comment on it. This is no different.
