I don't want to get rid of him... yet, but some indication that something is being done about the current situation now wouldn't go amiss.

I thought I'd give hime 3 seasons to rebuild and achieve something.

He has signed a sack of shit and his formations don't work with the staff he has.

If the next 3 games = 3 more defeats i'm afraid that's enough for me.

I agree its the clueless response that indicates that BR may be a wrong un (at least for us) and the wrong type of manager for us. What about rescuing Ollie from the Pool?

Coppell actually had a good start to his career here which then went south around Xmas time, roughly 10 - 15 games in.

I wasn't calling for Pardew's head. It was obvious we were bolloxed by Burns, I may have wished a better manager had been appointed but I know there is no point in switching managers quickly there because Pards inherited a shit squad. Therefore we needed to take our lumps and see what happened.

Rodgers on the other hand has inherited an ok squad and is getting nothing out of them. He needs to go or change our fortunes and his ideas soon. We can't afford for him to take us down, and it will be HIS fault.

Seriously if I was the chairman of any football team in trouble and on the look for a short term fix, Dog would be pretty high on most lists. He's just too much and after time falls out with everyone.

I do remember the negativity towards Pards, what was is, The Nearly Man?

Personally I believed in the guy. I've listened too and watched Rodgers and just don't believe him. We had faith in Pards cause we thought he was a great manager, Rodger's is the only one who thinks he is a great manager....

Dog is a disaster. Useless manager. Just ask Cheltenham fans. If he can't cut it in the lower divisions he sure as hell won't in the Championship. He wiouldn't be any kind of fix short-term or otherwise.
We desperately need a calm, experienced, streetwise manager who knows what he's doing at this level. Step forward A Curbishley.

Frankly I think we have no choice but to stick with Rodgers whatever the consequences.

Let's face it what are the alternatives. Anyone who thinks that say Alan Curbishley would come here under the current regime is deluded. The other hope that some have is that Steve Coppell will return. Again I would be astounded if he would come back here. He will have seen his team dismantled by the budget cuts and know that he would be facing an all but impossible task. It took him three seasons last time when he took over a relatively settled squad from Pardew.

I have given Rodgers the benefit of the doubt and urged that we give him half a season. Frankly I am disappointed to say the least that our performances seem to be getting worse not better BUT I still think he offers us the best chance of survival. Changing course now and taking on another lower division manger (which is all we will get) or out of work has been, is even more likely to get us relegated that sticking with Rodgers.

I say stick with Rodgers and get behind the boys and if the worst comes to the worst, he will have a year's managerial experience behind him when we start the Div 1 season next August. Hopefully he will have learned from his mistakes.

Why deluded? Curbs has worked on a shoe-string at Charlton in the past. The clubs not a million mailes away from where he lives, he's been out of work for a while etc etc...

Hi Pearcey

I actually posted that before reading your comments so it was not aimed specifically at you.

But if he came here he would have no funds and be on to a hiding to nothing. It would be an incredibly high risk job to take for any established manager. I would be astounded if he took the risk at this time in his career - unless he really wants a challenge!

IMO the only hope of getting him would be if new owners took over the club and he had lots of cash to splash in January.

 I had thought it aimed at me but no offence taken.
I think Mr Mad may have to make some funds available if he wants to attract a manager with any kind of track record. He certainly couldn't risk another unknown coach at this level.
SJM stands to watch the asset value in the club plummet if we go down again...£80 million for the club would then seem laughable. He may well realise that he has to spend a bit to keep the club at this level to ensure the clubs value doesn't disintegrate.
I bet he wishes he'd flogged the club a couple of years ago.

I was really excited when he was appointed, and I still maintain that the preformance against Cardiff was the best we've plpayed since before Christmas. I eall thought it was only a matter of time before it all started to go right.

But it's gone from bad to worse. The Boro game was embarasing. He doesn't need to go on a ten game streak of back to back vistories to regain my faith, just (excuse me shouting) ANY SIGN AT ALL HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING.

There. That feels better.

Jerry St Clair In honour of 2 world wars, 1 world cup's classic 2001 thread which (correct me if I'm wrong) cocked a snook at the plethora of Pardew detractors on HNA? who'd wanted him gone within months of joining in 1999. Pardew took on a squad that had been ground into the dust during the TB1 and TB2 eras, and it took him the best part of two seasons to rebuild it.

Yes it was MY thread thank you very much, under my previous name (which for some reason got lost along with the crash!) of "gimmeanr".

It turned into the longest thread on HNA which rather annoyingly only stopped thanks to the HNA server which went down.

But thanks for reminding everyone of it as I was going to but felt it might come across like blowing my own trumpet as when the vast majority was calling for his head I was calling for calm and could see his potential, I ended up getting pissed off and started up the thread in his praise. Over the coming weeks it became increasingly evident he knew what he was doing and the thread gained huge momentum. Ironically the converts then started having a go at me again when he left and I suggested Coppell would be *even* better and the rest is history... 8)

Anyway the point is a good one - when we all wanted Parj's head he turned out good. Why did the majority of us get it wrong? Because we weren't patient.

The same can be argued now. Either way we must BACK him up as history has shown we can make idiots of ourselves when we're impatient!

^ True but the club were patient with Bullivant until it was too late for Burns to turn things around. There has to be patience but it is limited. I'd give Rodgers 5 more games to turn things around. If he stays on beyond Christmas too much damage may have been done to save the season...

I think three more defeats and Rodgers will be sacked. Whether that will happen or not is anyone's guess.

For the Rodgers lovers out there, I will try to explain things very simply.

When FSB, Judas and SSC took over RFC, yes, they had plenty of issues to resolve. The point is, it was easy to see, almost from the off, what each of those managers was trying to achieve, and more importantly how they were going about things. All 3 managers very quickly achieved significant successes.

In the case of Rodgers, Burns and Bulilvant, they too may or may not have taken over an RFC team that had issues, but they showed absolutely no idea of how they were going to mould and shape the team into something coherent. All three chopped and changed personnel, tactics and gave very good impressions of simply blindly trying anything in teh forelorn hope of hitting on some magical winning formaula. All 3 failed miserably.

THAT is why Rodgers is a failure. There is no coherent plan. Oh, and he's so full of bullshit that he'd make Campbell and Meddlesome blush.

You may be right Strap BUT who are we going to get that is better? My point earlier is that changing course could well make a difficult situation impossible.

Do you seriously think that no one could do better? What are you, Todger's Dad? We're talking baout someone doing better than taking the club to the bottom of the Championship. Look at his signings FFS and then tell me that we couldn't get better. Curbs isn't better then? My daughter would be better.

In case I might sound like a "Rodgers lover" let me say that I don't remember anyone complaining about his imminent appointment more than I did and I didn't coin the derogatory term "27 game wonder" for nothing. It's ironic now that everyone else is deciding to get on his case. Anyway I just mention that so noone thinks I've any bias when I say I totally disagree with comparing other managers to Rodgers.

What has happened to RFC in the last year is UNPRECEDENTED in our history. We've ripped out a record breaking Premiership team and left it with a reserve team. This hasn't happened in 138 years.

Other managers may have had a few issues, as every managaer does, but you just cannot even beging to compare the 'issues' our previous new managers had with the disastrous situation Rodgers is finding himself having to cope with.

I reiterate - and those with a good memory will back me up - I was dead against Rodgers coming so I'm no Rodgers lover, but rather than earn cheap points gloating, all I can do is be fair and honestly say that I disagree - I feel sorry for Rodgers as his task is infinitely harder than anyone elses has ever been.

GIVE HIM SPACE and back the poor guy! If you want to blame anyone blame the board!
