papereyes
Archie's penalty Noel is providing a lot of goals for Doyle as well.

might be the best place to look. A touch out of date right now ...

Ok so after today I think he has two assists. Still he's doing very well. Has fitted right in.

Alan Partridge We are just about the biggest club in Berkshire although Maidenhead are catching up.

Maidenhead > Reading.

I hope Noel > his brother. That way he might be just about average.

Row Z Royal
Ian Royal shock that player at fairly well performing premier league club (first season)who doesn't play much gets cap over player at scottish premier league also ran club.

I still think waiting and actually seeing how he does in pre season, and maybe a few league games is a much muh better idea than writing him off because Long has more caps.

Stop trying discount my prejudices.

Noel Hunt is shit and always will be. FACT!!!

Royalee It's deja vu really - a decade ago we got relegated and started signing shit players from Scotland.

Ah the wonders of hindsight. :D

Streets
BNWA Streets, will you get a sodding grip - it's embarassing.

Anyway, 15-20 goals in the SPL isn't exactly a bad record and considering we're a Championship club curently it's more likely than not going to mean he is perfectly capable at this level.

Embarassing is a club finishing just outside Europe, still refusing to spend even £4m in the transfer market the following season and then getting relegated.

Embarassing is getting relegated, pockets full of cash and still refusing to spend the money required to get in the better proven players required.

Yes of course, as with our promotion, you don't always need a team of 'proven' players, but that team was together a long time and had one hell of a fighting spirit.

We are going to struggle this season because our chairman is holding us back.

NoeLOL Hunt. Great.

Big Ern I know we need to give the lad time to prove himself, but this signing, assuming it is our only major signnig of the summer, does nothing to restore my confidence in the club. I hope I am wrong, but our record with players from the Scottish league is not exactly great.

Arch I just want him to sign so that I can claim to be the one who tipped everyone off to our main summer signing.

Well done Arch!

irishroyal81 noel hunt is an absolute legend of a player. he scored 18 goals last year (granted in the SPL) but also take into account that Reading are playing in the Championship this year. He is young, very skillful, great header (unreal leap) and very atheltic with same celebration as leroy. check out youtube for some vids. also celtic were interested in him too but he is believed to fancy a move down south so its an awesome signing for Reading. he has excellent temprament and i fancy him to have a field day on the better quality pitches and with good delivery and injury free will hit the 15+ mark again . Also having two hunts in the one team will be extra funds through marketing etc and give more media pressence. i expect him to get his first full irish cap in the upcoming qualifying campaign.

typical negative pessimistic comments on him signing. its reading we support. not liverpool.

Great shout here!

I agree Seahawk, that opinion at least was from someone who saw him play, and who rated him.

The same old mongs on here with the same old views, slagging off before seeing players play.

Brilliant.

Noel is a good champ player. He will not hack it in the prem.

Think you should go back to your Promotion Pary thread. If you look at my other posts in this thread and read my genuine thoughts on N Hunt from the day of signing you will see a more measured review instead of a slightly tongue in cheek throwaway comment of more how bad his brother is.

As for N Hunt I find myself shockingly agreeing with winchester-royal. He's similar to his brother in terms of workrate and his bravery has got him most of his goals. He lacks the all round game and quality to succeed in the Premiership, but he's been an astute economical purchase who has done well so far this season.

I'm one of 1000's, it's not rare.
It's never been impossible, nearly the opposite, always more than probable, if the right man and the right players stayed.
That opinion hasn't changed once.
Anyway, lots of people I know feel the same.
It's not unique.

One thing that has surprised me with Noel (and I was very optimistic when we signed him) is his finishing. I think I would trust him more than anyone else on the team to find the back of the net. By hook or crook, head or foot, with people hanging on his back he just finds a way to get it done. Class.

I think Noel will make a decent reserve striker for the prem. And you never know he may improve enough to make it. Better option than retaining Lita or Long should we go up.

We really need Lita to suddenly become a changed man on his return or to flog him and bring in a quality striker in January.

Then come promotion if it happens we can go for another one.
