Irrational Like: Marek Matejovsky. Some lovely moments - it seemed to me a measure of the club's growth in stature that we could attract someone so talented. I wanted so badly to believe. Now I'm starting to accept he didn't really bring much to us.

Irrational Dislike: Definitely Nicky Forster. I'm embarrassed even to say it. He was a fine player and a massive part of our success from 2000 to 2002, but something about him always annoyed me. Obviously his selfishness was a part of it, but it was more that I came to believe his selfishness betrayed an arrogance and disrespect to his teammates. Plus he effectively ended Cureton's career at Reading - he deserved his place in the team over Cureton, but it was sad nonetheless. I can at least concede Forster is a real Reading legend. It's just that my respect for him is begrudging.

RobRoyal Irrational Dislike: Definitely Nicky Forster

He'd be one of mine too. Dunno why, just never warmed to him.

Robson-Kanu is on the brink of my dislike list too. He needs to add an end product to his game quick smart.

Nicky Forster is a LOVE player for me. I liked the way he just kind of ploughed a lone furrow and didn't much care for anyone else. I watched a YouTube clip of all 52 of his BHA goals the other day and it brought back some memories (although, a shitload of headers in there). Wish we still had a striker with epic pace who could rinse any centre-half he wanted to.

cmonurz Just liked his energy on the pitch, and his quality back-headed own-goal at Luton.

That can't be right, according to Sky Hernandez scored the very first back header the world as ever at the weekend.

...the Cardiff centre back almost scored one from about 10 yards last night but I bet they don't wet the bed over that one.

Irrational likes - Brian Howard for me in the current squad. Bit of a dick, dives, has a moan. But like Floyd says, he can actually pass the ball and we play better with him in the team. I attribute this mainly to him being left footed so his natural pass is to Jimmy "special" K and we all know the well known formula...

Ball + Jimmy Kebe = excitement.

Irrational hatred - I'd argue these are completely rational but Marek Matejovsky...not hated a player as much as him since Alex Pearce. So there's two for you. Being slow is one thing, but looking like you are slower than you even are really upsets me.

Part of my hatred for MM was based on people saying "he's a playmaker" - no he's not. "Other players don't get him" - so 10 of the 11 players on the pitch can't read this one person...I conclude the fault is with him!

Actually, talking further back of running styles - I didn't like Darius Henderson much, mainly because his running gait was so awkward. He probably doesn't speak too highly of me though tbf.

Yep,

Even after the 106 team i still say that, over a season, Forster in 2002/03 is the best Reading Player i have ever seen. He would have single handedly got us promoted if he hadnt done his ankle at Wolves.

But just a Rational like, shirley?

Fozzy is my favourite ever Reading player. Not an irrational like, because he was a fantastic player for us and a thoroughly nice chap.

Like: Andy Griffin. Old school, defender par excellence. Keeps the defence together, gives Kebe the licence to be Kebe and rarely misplaces a pass. That’s all a bit rational. The ball he delivered into Gutiérrez’s midriff, whilst he was fcuking around with a throw-on last season, still makes me chuckle. And he’s got greyer hair than mine, drives a proper Ferrari and hides beer bottles in the Atrium bar plant pots. Ledge.

Dislike: Sal Bibbo. Salvatore? I’m thinking Naples, Bari, Palermo or Messina place of birth. Nope Basingstoke. A goalkeeper with less than a dozen appearances. Ever. Who’s now presumably paid a fortune by Pretty Polly to drop-kick balls at ferocious pace into the waiting arms of Federici et al. Which, to be fair, he’s quite good at. And then goes home to bone his – according to SKDD – stunner of a missus. Tossr.

Yup, it was almost like 3 teams on the pitch most games - the opposing XI, Reading's X and Nicky Forster on his own hellbent mission to get the ball and score

8) 8) 8)

Irrational like: Nicky Hammond?

I can't honestly recall how many times I saw him in a Reading shirt - perhaps my memory is positively clouded by his outstanding performance against Cardiff in the 1-1 FA Cup draw at Elm Park that we won on penalties. He was brilliant that night, leaping about like a salmon on steroids. Easily the most athletic keeper I've seen play for Reading. Or maybe he was just better than Steve MautLOLone.

Agree totally. I can only assume that people who on here who claim he was a shit keeper never saw him play. With the exception of Tommy Wright on loan he was the outstanding keeper in the era between Shaka and Marcus. To describe his career as injury ravaged is a serious understatement. I still remember that Cardiff game. He kept them at bay single handedly. I also remember what was his last ever game, at home to, i think, Ipswich. We lost 1-0 but he'd been dragged off the treatment table to play and could barely stand on 2 legs yet spent the afternoon diving at the feet of onrushing forwards as our defence once time and time again parted like the Red Sea. He was practically carried off at the end. He put his career on the line in an effort to keep us up. That game finished his career. What he lacked in height he more than made up for with agility and guts

Past Really Irrational like: Jim McIntyre.

Don't ask me why because I don't know myself but he improved under Pards and turned into a better player than the one who arrived.

Current: Matt Mills.

Who hasn't felt like sticking their middle finger up at our fans before? I like the passion he shows on the pitch even if he can be overzealous with it at times.

Past Dislike: Jamie Cureton.
Brizzle Rivers 6 Reading 0. You can score all the promotion winning goals you want Jamie nothing makes up for that game you goal hanging little sod.
Current: Kanu.

I almost collapsed with shock when he set up Kebe and scored against Palace a few of weeks ago. Despite those blemishes he has no composure in front of the opposition goal whatsoever.

Of the recent past, I never liked Cisse - he just didnt look like a footballer, never mind play like one. As far Fae - what a waste of space. Currently there is no real irrational disliking of anyone, though if pushed Marcus Williams comes close. Going back a bit/ a lot, I never really warmed to Gary Westwood, but from the 78-79 team, I used to LOVE it when Ollie Kearns played, and, as happened often, scored. Used to shut the boo-boys up a treat ! I like most of the current squad, though it has been said Matt Mills does seem a bit of a knob.

Always liked Steve Swales and Tooty Fruity Martyn Booty

Partly because I tend to like players who give their all despite not having much skill, but I also always seem to have an affinity with full-backs - and the fact that these two got frequently bad-mouthed by many made me like them more.

I have no idea why but I have an irrational like of Dave Mooney, not sure why! I really wanna see him do well here but looks like it'll never happen.

Previous irrational hatred towards Forster, mainly think it was due to him coming back in and nabbing Curo's spot in the team at the time.

Currently I am quick to jump on Feds back...although I think that's more based on mistakes that he's made in the past.
