Mr Angry Goal difference means jack until the end of the season; to attempt to extrapolate exactly where a team will finish in the final League table in May on the basis of their goal difference in November, December or January is at best, something to have a laugh with down the pub with mates; to take such a thing seriously is simply
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out the a team with better goal difference than another team are, on the balance of probabilities, going to finish higher than that team, and vice versa.
Beyond that though, its simply speculative.
Classic nobber misquoting and narrow thinking.
Goal difference is better than goals scored or defensive ability as a predictor of league position.
A side that appears lower than it should, based on GD, USUALLY ends up higher
But what was said was that IF RFC are in the same position GD-wise at the end of the season, they "WILL" finish in the top six. (That's POSITION GD-wise, ie 3rd/4th, not
finishing with a GD of 13)
