Cypry Does make me wonder if a deal's already been done (or is almost finalised) to move Feds on in January, and the whole McCarthy to Leeds loan was planned to give him some game time at the right level in the anticipation that he'll be #1 from January.
Under those circumstances loaning him to Leeds would make perfect sense.....

Interesting theory but I thought that McCarthy went to Leeds due to their 1st and 2nd choice keepers being injured?

which would affect the club he went to not the general "plan"

That's what I meant - it's a win/win - Leeds get a half decent temporary keeper until their issues are resolved, McCarthy gets game time at a decent level so that in the event that Feds disappears in January, McCarthy can come in as #1 "warm"....
Given that Feds has been playing so well and (outside of a few haters in the RFC fanbase) seems to be acknowledged as one of the best, if not the best keeper in the Championship, it wouldn't surprise me if a Premier league team, or even a top tier team from elsewhere in Europe came in for him this window....

McCarthy clearly likes the huge support from the Elland Road kop.

At Reading he gets the miserable witterings of a few twits in the south east corner. If ever Reading fans who want to sing decided to gather in the North Stand, this interview suggests you could really help your own players.

I thought both goals were McCarthy mistakes. So 2-1 to McCarthy in mistakes for this weekend.

What about the rest of the season? I'd say Fed has dropped at least a couple more clangers.

Well yes, but that's no more misleading than comparing just one game.

He's going to make errors, long term it's a good thing. He's had a very easy ride so far (due to his good play!) but it's all part of a young players development is to make errors and learn from it. Just his will be highlighted because he plays in goal.

Feel free to name these other two minimum Federici clangers.

Definitely at least one against Millwall and I recall there being an issue with one more recently... Cardiff perhaps...

He was suspect on several goals from crosses early in the season.

Not going to hold it against McCarthy if he decides to throw the odd one into the Leeds net.

It really is quite simple. McCarthy might well go on to be a great keeper but at this time

Federici>>>>>>>>>>>McCarthy>>>>>>>>>>>>>any other keeper on Leeds books.

Federici is a top class keeper who makes very few mistakes. There is no way that he should be dropped in favour of a young and still unproven player.

Andersen doesn't look too bad either. We are blessed with quality keepers at the moment.

That's why I haven't said he should be dropped. Instead I've said that if we have to lose one and can get money for Fed I'd prefer us to sell him and keep the others. And I don't agree Federici is that far ahead of McCarthy.

Another cracking save from McCarthy yesterday, one handed, low down from a header.

Federici makes few mistakes!!??
He got lobbed at Hull, lobbed at home to Cardiff, gifted Posh one at the end and I'm sure there are more this season.
Alex McCarthy came in last season and was superb and lost one out of about 13 league games, when the defence went missing against Sheff Utd. He did not deserve to be dropped and may have made a difference in the play off final, when Federici palmed another one out straight to the Swansea player to score. Alex deserves to be our no 1, but McD will keep playing Federici and probably sell Alex to Leeds, unless someone comes in for Federici.
