Royal Lady 1. Royal Rother doesn't go to Reading games at all - but feels he is better placed to comment than many of us who do.
2. Why drop Cox and Mackie (last weeks MOM) when having done that previously also proved problematic. Does Adkins really think he has the quality and depth of players that he can really do that?
3. For the upteenth time, I shall ask again, why did we not use this emergency window to get in an experienced defender - I bet Ferdinand is laughing his socks off getting paid and not having kicked a ball for us. I doubt Adkins even wanted him, so why not bring in someone else, if only for the short term to steady the ship.
4. His choice of captain is extremely questionable.
5. When will we ever be introduced to our Thai Overlords?

5. When they announce their plans for all of the property development that they have in mind! Do they even send a representative (other than JM) to the games?

Mr.Swainey Chris Gunter is oxf*rd.

That is all.

+ 1

Gunter was awful for both the first & third goals. He only tackles or makes a block in the penalty box; he almost never takes on the opposition winger but just tracks back, letting his opponent get in the cross. There were many encouraging things about yesterday's performance (Cooper did a good job on his full debut against one of the best strike forces in the division & great to see Williams back - just a shame the game was lost by the time he came on) but Gunter was a real liability.

Basingstoke Royal

Basingstoke Royal 1. Play Obita in his proper position with Kelly at left back.

2. Sign a centre back on loan.

3.Get some protection in front of the defence. Ie. Jem.

Don't play Kelly at LB......please don't.

Sign a left back on loan then. Left back should have been top of the shopping list.

Obita is not a left back. He does ok defensively but will be much more valuable on the wing supplying more crosses into Murray.

I heard there were Thais there, but were they the owners? I think Dellor might have asked one of the players and they didn't know!

If they were the owners, they were probably lulled into a completely false sense of security by the clean sheet!

I will probably get shot down for this one but....Do we have a recall on Drenthe or is it a done deal as in loan to sell?

I know he was an issue, but we dont really know the ins and outs of the Drenthe situation but at present i would rather have a player who can excite on the pitch than players who never will....And what on earths happened to Guthrie? The guy looks like he has been munching Big Macs for breakfast, tea and dinner

Sassy was there sitting in the front row, two seats away from JM, it appeared to be another Thai sitting next to him, now I wouldn`t expect normal guests to get front row treatment

Wouldn't bother personally

The game was actually one of our better performances this season, but we're just not good enough and will be battling it out in the bottom half this season I'm afraid. Seeing Williams back is fantastic though.

Kitsondinho Just got back home from Ewood. 3 points I feel that came out of it......

1) Nick Blackman's biggest problem is his terrible decision making.
2) Gunter is not a leader and that needs addressing.
3) HRK should never ever play through the middle. I don't care if he thinks that is his position, it clearly isn't.

I was impressed withthe numbers we took there, as in there were more than 10 which is always a bonus for us

1 - Didn't Kebe suffer this at first, and then it "clicked?" Maybe this will be the same for our Nick.
2 - Havent seen many games this season, only what I can on dodgy online streams so cannot comment. I trust the views on the board that he is playing like a school girl.
3 - HRK.... Fuck me. To think that we kept him over Antonio. Its not even fair on Antonio to compare them anymore. Different levels..

Back from the stream? Your telling me there was a stream for this game?

Sadly we made the trip for another episode of disappointment. Disappointing from Adkins, the changes made to line up were just wrong. HRK instead of Cox? Not starting Mackie an even stranger choice.

Blackburn were the better side until they scored, after that when we eventually levelled the score we deserved it. I was actually optimistic at the start of the second half but the next goal was important and they got it. From where I was it didnt look it like it should have been free kick so I felt a bit robbed (might need to see it again), thought the ref had a dire game tbh. He made a ridculous decision to book Obita for basically backing Rhodes into the corner and also memorably gave them a free kick for foul almost exactly the same as one he had let them get away with moments earlier. Seemed like a lot of the 50 50s were going against us, but I'm not using that as an excuse.

Federici was ok, made one quality double save (looked like he made up for a bad connection to the initial effort), but didnt make it easy for himself for their free kick goal. Obita and Gunter wernt too bad although still think Gunter shouldnt be captain, but the positive in defence was Cooper. I would go as far to say start him with Hector next game. A lack of experience without Pearce I know but as we can see from him and Gunter, experience doesnt seem to mean much.

In midfield Blackman was probably our best player, seems to have the confidence the run at players now which is he actually decent at. There usually wasnt any decent passing options at the end of his run though, we are clueless in the final third. We just end up going backwards or passing it sidewards. On the rare occasions our players got into positions to shoot they didnt seem to want to.
I thought Akpan had a decent game, Norwood has some good ideas but some of his attempts to pull them off were poor. Didnt notice Taylor that much but he did have one good attempt in the first half at 1-0, a half volley that he caught nicely that was well saved.

Murray was alright again but looks better with Cox next to him, (probably starting to get frustrated with this team) HRK didnt offer much and noticeably didnt seem to want to win any headers. Williams looked decent when he came on, will be good to have him an McCleary back. Should see us create a bit more. There was still some hoofball going on sadly, in fact its looking like many of the problems that were present under McDermott are still there, like the lack of creativity and cutting edge in the final third which I reckon has basically been missing since Sigurdsson left.

leon your last sentence means I can't take anything else in your post seriously, sorry

Care to explain why? If you were at the game (or if you have even watched us recently), I think you would agree. I actually prefer Adkins to McD and have faith in him. Some things have improved, yes we can pass the ball about when we want and we look decent when we do, but we dont do anything with it.

Before Adkins we still didnt create much but on average had a lot less possession. There were times when we could and should have kept hold of the ball but instead decided to kick it long, fail to find a RFC player and/or fail to win the header and lose the ball. Tell me that problem wasnt there under McD?

I dont care what anyone says, sadly there is still a definite lack of creativity in the final third and it has been that way for quite some time. If you cant see that then nothing you say can be taken seriously, sorry.

I suspect that Leon doesn't disagree with your "lack of creativity" criticism, but probably takes issue with the very last part of that sentence.
We won the league without Gylfi. HTH.

It's a shame the season hasn't gone to plan so far. Without wanting to sound like a sound bite many games have been down to finer margins then what our league position suggests.

It is ridiculously tight at the top and a few straight wins and we're back in the hunt.

I think you're a moron if you want to get rid of Adkins at this stage. His signings have been our brightest sparks baring obita. When Williams, guthrie and karacanio come back he has a much better machine to work with.

Don't complain when your fiesta can't beat a merc off the lights.

Yeah puzzled me too, we only see face value and what the media tell us. Cox may have been up late at a KKK meeting for all you know.
